I built a 30x50 pole barn with 10ft side walls but used scissor trusses. I have roughly ~14 feet in the middle and I find that to be the minimum. I probably have less than a foot above the lift for space.

Interesting. Didn't think of lights like that. My wife prefers this style -- which cantilevered out is giving me heartburn without a strong mount.

Didn't think about just caulking them -- since there is nothing under the plywood along some of the edges I thought the caulk might fall throw. It is the cheapest and simplest way -- I agree.
