    angle grinder?

Rent an Edco 10" for a bout a half aday should do it and use 30/40 diamond segments. I just tried a Dynabrush, but it is recommended to use water when grinding. You have to wash and wait a minimum of 3 days to coat. Acid etching is the least desired method for prep. If you dry grind, vacuum...

    New Garage Floor Questions

A 10mil or more vapor barrier. Trowel smooth, but not burnished, and it will be easier to prep when you paint. A strip drain right outside the door will help with keeping the water outside. And as above be sure the shinkage joints are cut right after pouring. If a cure and seal is used...

I use Sika 380 Poly-urethane on most of my floor and get about 350 sq.ft. per gal./ It has performed well on all of my floors.

    Epoxy Finished......

Be sure in real hot weather, let your tires cool down before parking the car on your floor. I have recoated plenty of peeled up floors because of this. Great looking floor from a DIY guy!

    Best Oil Absorbing Mats?

Make sure the mat that you used has a plastic barrier on the back. After drying they still work fine. If you do get oil on it, I know what will take it out.

Diamond Grinder vs Stone Grinder - and what grit

Diamond pads are in the $35 dollar range if you buy them on line. Use the ll" Edco. The stones do an inferior job and take to long to open up the concrete. Move it from side to side and pull or push at a consisten speed. You will make ridges if you move it to slow or stop moving before...

    seal or epoxy?

The Elite floor was what is referred to as a metalic floor and is beautiful in a salon. It has a 3-D look and is great if the concrete has imperfections or stains before sealing. I like clear moistured cured urethanes (2 coats and easy to install), in other words it is single component and...

Looking to have my garage floor done (stained, overlay) like a lot of store have.

You can apply a stain directly to the concrete slab, if it is solid with no dibbits in it. I prefer acetone stains or water base as the sealer can be applied soon after staining. Moisture cured urethane is my choice or an epoxy first coat with an aliphatic urethane if more chemical resistance...

Prepping for concrete, what to do?

The best advice is from Skulldrinker above. You will need approx. 3 loads @ 8 yds. That is figuring a 6" slab (exactly 22.2222 yds), but get a little extra on the last truck. Pour all at once, it will save money in rental for all the equipment you will need and be a much better slab with all...

What is best? 3 day or 1 day garage floors? HELP!

I agree with the GarageGuy up above. The 1day floor is probably a PAP a ( polyasartic alliphatic polyurea) coating system. You need to know how many coats, how many mils thick per coat and are you getting a decorative scattered chip floor or a full broadcasted floor. Coat for coat, a PAP...

Any tips on Diamond grinding the garage?

I'm a junior at this site, but have been a concrete coating person for about 20+ yrs. I was an industrial painter for 17 yrs. Enough about my credentials. You can grind this floor with 40grit diamonds to get the profile you need. They should have these , but the next size grit up will also...

Horrible garage floor needs makeover - repairing concrete?

I have been fixing these kind of floors for about 20+yrs. I don't think this floor has any relief joints that go across the floor like a cross. As the slab dried the shrinkage caused the ramdone cracking. Go to the Harbor Freight Store; buy you a cheap small side grinder and a diamond 4"...

Filling the expansion joints in garage

We membrane these type of joints with a flexible epoxy membrane or a urethane hybrid joint filler. We fill the joint flush and allow it to get a little rigid and then we bandaid it approx. 3" on each side. We bevel it to zero and keep it thick (about 3/32 in the middle over the joint. The...

    RaceDeck design help

RaceDeck makes a great product, but some people like a polyaspartic chip floor. I install these floors in North Kakilacki for some of the franchise cabinet people. They also carry the snapin floors, but don't like the idea of all the grease dirt and oil falling through. We can install a logo...
