You could buy a cheap set of 1/2 deep sockets and grind wrench flats into them. Crows foot and torque wrench on the flats and drop a hex through the anvil hole.
Whole heck of a lot cheaper than $300+ for tools that see infrequent use.
My VW has the same mounting style and I painted anti-seize on the struts I replaced the oem ones with. 15+ years later when I went to refresh the suspension again it didn't really matter, enough water and salt crept in there that they were still a fight to remove.
It can't hurt, but in my case...
Husky hand tools are perfectly serviceable for the home mechanic, especially if you pick them up on sale. I've never had an issue warrantying a broken tool, and if you ever lose something they sell individual pieces at the store which is something you can't do at HF.
Another vote for the these. I picked this one up at hd a month ago to trim the two japanese maples in my front yard. The loppers work great but while the saw works, I found it hard to get a full stroke out it. Still gets the job done, you just have to work it a little longer.
I was going to...
I've got a 3/8 drive from my 90's Husky set. I use it for wheel bolts, valve covers, spark plugs, and motorcycle engine cases. Way faster than a ratchet while still having good feel when spinning bolts into aluminum.
Put me in the no camp as well. I've got the Diehard 1/2 flexhead mentioned above, and while it's nice to have, for everything I've used it for a breaker bar would do just fine.
If you need the ratcheting action for reach or access I could see the ratchet being nice to have, but since you...
What's really helped me has been organization. Having a toolbox and having all my tools organized, in, on and around it has helped motivate me to make sure I clean and put away all the tools I've used after a job.
I've only lost a few tools, but I've misplaced more than my fair share, and...
Most if not all tool review channels are more or less unboxing videos. Very few do follow up vids after actually using the tool(s).
The majority of these glorified unboxing videos are also way longer than they need to be while leaving out useful information like measured dimensions. You've got...
It's too bad that more sets like this aren't available in the states. All metric sockets with the most common bit sockets and barely an l-key in sight. I even see E torx sockets and ribe bits in there... nice.
I have sets of extra shallow sockets from Power Torque, Astro, and Gearwrench in 1/4 and 3/8 and they are my go to's unless I need the depth or clearance.
I find the shorter the socket the easier it is to keep the force directly in line with the fastener with less chance of twisting off. I...
