Made a "manual auto drain" (MAD) for my compressor!

Yes, its a very small air leak. I assume that the actual amount of air that escapes is comparable to periodic blasts through an auto/semi-auto drain valve. Where I'm going with it is no special valve or moving parts are required, you just crack the thing open a wee bit and forget about it. I...

Made a "manual auto drain" (MAD) for my compressor!

A resistor across a voltage source flows current and drops a voltage across the resistor. Ohms law determines the exact numbers. As I understand it, he measured the current draw of the relay across a 120 source. Then he pretended that was a resistor. What resistor has the same behaviour? Ohms...

A Herringbone Parquet Floor, From Scratch

Pmech thanks for sharing your knowledge. There are probably not a lot of people who know what you know, but certainly even fewer who care enough to share their knowledge with strangers on the net. This forum is unlike any I have ever found... its because of threads and posters like this...

Made a "manual auto drain" (MAD) for my compressor!

That's a frugal approach to solving your problem. The auto drain valves I've seen so far cost around $100.00 or more. Plus they add complexity; something else to break or monitor for proper operation, which I try to avoid. My compressor came with a needle valve you can crank open on the...

Question for CFL users (primary light source)

I use CFL floods by GE. The specific bulb is FLE26/2/R40XL. Here is one place to buy them: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MAJ09K/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I can't comment on longevity because I've never had one die. I have a few of them in different places on my property, and also in my...

FREE * Air Compressor * FREE

Make him promise to post pics of the restore. That motor alone is a beauty!!! I could come pick it up but if I leave now, it will take me about a week to arrive assuming I drive straight through and never sleep. Hats off to you sir, for caring enough not to throw it out.

My build project - 10x20 Garden Garage

Thanks for sharing your progress. The hand thing could have been much worse. I'm gradually getting out of the habit of bleeding on my projects. I think they call it gaining experience. I guess you can always add more windows later, but that is one hell of a view. Is one window enough?

    Need a Handheld Vacuum Pump?

I use a five gallon bucket with a hole in the lid for a shop vac hose and a tube coming out to attach to brake calipers or pwr steering. No pumping just turn on the shop vac and finish your beer while you wait. Then dump the bucket in your used oil collector.

    Craftsman C3 line trimmer???

After owning a few different light yard tools like this over the years I've decided that for me, electric plug in types are the easiest to deal with. I know the electric cord can be a bit of a hassle, but I have a nice reel to pay it out quickly and take it up when I'm done. If you don't have...

    Harbor Freight (!) Driveway Alarm

I used to use an old baby monitor for my garage. I just left it on. That way if someone went in there at night I would hear it in the house. It finally died after being plugged in for a few years, and I never got a chance to hear someone in there because no one broke in.
