Geoff, you’re right. One has a BBF, but the other was factory built by Steve Arntz in California about 40 years ago with a BBC. The Gal is actually an old Mercury Comet. I’m giving it a bit of a performance upgrade at the moment.

    Aussie 16x10m (53x33ft) new build

Thanks Frank! Sandman - I love how easy it is to clip the flooring together. I bought enough spares so I can swap out any if I significantly damage them.Less expensive than many other flooring options as well. :)

    Aussie 16x10m (53x33ft) new build

472 - in summer, it’s cooler inside as I can open up the 8’ high roller door at the back and the 14’ high doors in the front and get great airflow. In our mild winters, the temp is about the same inside and out. I don’t know how much the insulation sheeting actually works, and in fact I really...

    Aussie 16x10m (53x33ft) new build

OK, so it seems I dropped the ball by not continuing this shed build thread, so here’s a quick update to say that I love having a bit of space to play with cars. I made the mistake of moving everything in before deciding what to do with the floor surface. It meant a bit of shuffling of benches...

GRIP brand anvil vise. Any info?

Good to see another one Jimbo! I’ve bolted mine to a little 1200x600 stainless table that I move around as a portable work bench. People look at it like it’s a little toy, but there are times when it’s nice to use a small vice to give you access in and around a job. It was used last weekend...

Am i crazy to NOT coat my floor...

Everyone told me to acid etch and coat my 30x48 before I started moving everything in, because it’s so much more work to move everything back out... I didn’t get around to it, because I couldn’t find a product that felt like good value for money. I haven’t regretted it.

GRIP brand anvil vise. Any info?

Thanks Sunset. I’ve come for advice so I certainly won’t knock it back. That said, the casting on this vise looks like it might be from the 50s or 60s. I’d be surprised it was a recent cheap import, but maybe it is?

GRIP brand anvil vise. Any info?

I’ve just bought a lovely little anvil vise. It has GRIP 880 (could be 830?) cast into it. The only internet search result was for this identical vise, but I cannot find any history of the brand. Any background would be great to hear, thanks! That’s a matchbox in the picture, to give an idea of...

Record C/4 Vise with small anvil. Vintage or rubbish?

Thanks for the link, 2oolhound -that was an interesting read. Downwind - is your model number S03, or did you mean No3? I can’t find any info about an SO3. Lucky13 - don’t they look great too! I have a Record No.6 at one end of the bench, and it’s a beast. I’m looking forward to finding an older...

Record C/4 Vise with small anvil. Vintage or rubbish?

Thanks very much Matt. I wish I could find something - anything - online about the C/4 model, but I have to agree that things are pointing to it being a newer model. Bummer, because if it was a restored vintage piece I’d snap it up in a heartbeat.

Record C/4 Vise with small anvil. Vintage or rubbish?

A local guy is selling some tools on behalf of a deceased estate. There are numerous vintage tools that I plan to buy, but I’m puzzled by the Record C/4 vise/vice. Every Record I’ve seen seems to have “No.4, No.6 etc”, so I don’t know about the C/4 model. Pictures attached. Any advice as the...

    Aussie 16x10m (53x33ft) new build

Day 2 of sheeting. End walls battens are on and the end wall sheeting is nearly done. Gaps in the roof are for the translucent sheeting and another quarter of the roof Colorbond is in place. They guys are only available on a Saturday and we were rained out last Saturday. Forecast for rain...

    Aussie 16x10m (53x33ft) new build

Gazza, good ideas thanks mate. I’ll definitely run another conduit. It will probably just be used to extend my wifi/internet access for the security system. Unfortunately, I don’t have space st the house end for that machine you linked. For the 8m from the driveway to the shed, I might crack...
