    GFCI outlet ceiling mounted?

It depends on if you have pulled a permit and when your jurisdiction implements the 2011 Code. In the 2011 Code all GFCI resets must be in plain reach which puts it at no more than 6'7" and can not be behind any equipment. This is not a requirement in the 2008 Code, so it's a big change for the...

    Shed Sub Panel

Thanks a bunch for the help. I should be able to finish up with all the electrical inside of the shed this weekend. Then I'll work on getting a trencher to bury the feeders.

    Shed Sub Panel

Thanks for the info. I noticed that it says those are for 150-200A panels. This is only a 100A panel. Is that still the right way to go? I'm really not going to go above 40A. I only have 100A in the house and it's just a shed. So if I wanted more power in the shed I wouldn't be comfortable...

    Shed Sub Panel

Bumping this back up because I have aquired a free Square D QO8-16L100DS. I have tried to find a hold down to back feed a breaker and haven't had any luck. Any advice for this one? Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

    Shed Sub Panel

I don't know if I would ever have room, physically, for a welder. Plus anything I need welded I can run up to my Dad's and do there. This is mainly for a small workshop and storage.

    Shed Sub Panel

I was planning on running 4x #8. I doubt there is much of a cost difference between the #8 and #10. The #8 is $0.31/foot. one red, one black, one white and one green. One thing I have been wondering is what size to run to the ground rods, #10? I'm guessing this is the panel you are talking...

    Shed Sub Panel

I am trying to figure out the most cost effective way to set up the sub panel in my shed. The chief inspector told me I needed a main (don't know if it was for the switching ability or the circuit protection, haven't looked it up in the code yet). I will have a 40A 2 pole in the house, #8 THWN...

    Finally my shed is in

Black Bear is a large manufacturer of pre-built sheds. I'm just going off of their reputation. I don't know much about it.

    Finally my shed is in

It is open air due to being raised on 4x4s. PT would have lasted longer, but I would think this will last a while too. I've seen Black Bears last quite a while.

    Finally my shed is in

I have been thinking about floor coverings. It's already got a little wet from the bench that is in there that I had to hose down before I even though of putting it in the shed. I have a utility mat down to park the mower on so I don't spill gas or oil from that. I'll probably hit the HD and...

Snap on vs. Harbor Freight wrenches

If you are the weekend warrior it probably doesn't make much of a difference. If you paycheck depends on it spend the money for piece of mind. It's pretty simple really.

    Finally my shed is in

After many many months of waiting for the ground to firm up enough to put a flat bed on it. I finally got my shed on the 6th. The stone has actually been down since October 2009. These drivers have this stuff down to an art. Couple simple maneuvers and it was dead on straight. After it was...

subpanel questions, wire size etc... newbie here

I think that would be the better route. Do it all in one shot rather than spending money and then undoing it later.

subpanel questions, wire size etc... newbie here

I think a bigger question is what kind of a load do you have in your house? If you have a full electric (ie. HVAC, stove, water, etc, etc), I don't think it would be a good idea to run 100A out to a garage from your main panel. I don't know the code verbatim but I think there is a limit for...

    wood floor covering

I like the epoxy route, didn't know it was available for wood floors. The shed will be used more often than a normal shed. I will have a workbench in there and such. I don't plan on building any engines in there and if I do I'd be sure to cover the floor. It's a 12x16 shed.
