Very Cool shop, and one that makes you want to be in it, even if its just hanging out. Definitely have the artists eye.

A working shop will always be a little messy, so don't worry about that. Worry about it getting out of hand where it impacts your ability to work. You are light years ahead of where you were at the beginning of this thread, so celebrate the victories. While the other shop and employee issue...

It was nice to meet you. A working shop should always be a bit messy, just like a working desk. My toys and tools are an order of magnitude smaller than yours, but you are welcome to visit any time!

But look at the bright side. You now have lakefront property!

I am doing a similar swap. but you need to use the earlier frames as they 99 up are just too wide for the vehicle. Square bodies fit the best, with and 87-98's fitting also, but a bit on the wide site. You may want to sell that. If you don't, I do have a 91' C1500 frame setup for the 55-59...

    my one man repair shop

A peterson scrub board is basically a surface grinder. Never use a belt sander type machine on heads. It eats up edges of the chambers. Here is a video of a Peterson. They generally are an inexpensive machine, reliable, and work very well for heads. Unless we are doing something that...

    my one man repair shop

Be careful with used head resurfacers. A lot of them are sold because they are worn out if they are from a production shop. If you are just making sure you have a flat surface for the gaskets, something like a Petersen scrub board type machine works very well, or a Van Normal Rotary Broach...

What motor is in the J5? IIRC the early ones had a Chrysler 225 Slant 6, and the later ones had the Ford 300 6. I always wanted one of those, but don't have the money, space, or any real need for one. lol

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I am back! Since my last posting a lot has happened. I got laid off, got a new job and got through the probation period, then ended up leaving that job after being headhunted by my old boss for a much better new job, which I just finished getting through the probation period again. Because...

I always just try to do one thing in my shop, or related to my shop every day. I find that just actually doing one small task gets me over the hump, and I usually end up continuing. This is what gets me over the planning paralysis of my projects. Plus they get done, slowly but surely.

65' house and some 70's bikes

Nice setup. I have built something similar for the XS400 in my shop. If you are going to put it on wheels, get some that lock. I took the wheels I had on mine off because the didn't lock. I second the racking. I have done two walls in my shop and have tons of storage.

Vertical Mill - BeaverMill Mk 2.

I recently bought this mill and am too busy to actually pick it up, convert it single phase, and use it! It is a nice condition BeaverMill Mk 2, wired for 575v. Luckily it takes standard frame motors, so its easy to convert the 3hp 575v motor to whatever you want. It has about a 60" bed...

240 1 ph Power at home, how to get 575 3ph?

I don't know if I can get a motor for it, or get it rewound since I am unfamiliar with this brand of mill. So nice to see the support on this forum from some members....

240 1 ph Power at home, how to get 575 3ph?

My "home shop" is an old industrial building. But we are out in the country which limits available power. Where I live there is only 240v 1 phase. Up the road some is 208 3 phase which I am going to try to get when I get the service upgraded next year.
