    Make a door taller?

Check to see if you are already maxed out ....looks like you may be ....or close ....when you say you are going to put in a lift ...it doesn't look like you will be able to lift very much (height)! I just don't see those costs justifiying the gains ...but if you have enough money anything can be...

Garage..... 1. a building or part of a building used to house a motor vehicle 2. a commercial establishment in which motor vehicles are repaired, serviced, bought, and sold, and which usually also sells motor fuels 3. a.a rough-and-ready style of rock music b.a type of...

    Oil Based Paint

I thought(was told) that oil over latex was the probem! I have always used an oil based primer with a latex solid stain top coat on decks with results that have lasted many years? On interior trim oil based top coats over oil based primer are much better looking if one has a good skill level, of...

Baffled on how to build wood floor threshold

What kind of a seal are you going to have or do you have on your door...I think that will be the weak spot in a driving rain. The diamond plate looks good. Looks like it has a little pitch with a good seal on the bottom of the door you could be OK

    be your own general contractor

you probably won't save anything...and could spend more. A reputable builder is the way to go....

Another lift question - this time about the concrete

Minimum is ,well minimum, most(pre-existing) slabs are 4" 3k so you can put their lifts on them,That mohawk may lift a heavier vehicle and so require a stronger base,You know you are going to put a lift in and so you have the opportunity to go with a better slab...Talk to your concrete man or...

Large crack hidden under shelf in garage

If your footing is sound you should be OK. I was not sure about your 4.25 inch thought it may have sunk that far. Again I'd put it on the inspector he was supposed to find that, if it was a problem and he should be more than happy to take a look for you. Most likely you can just grout it or pump...

Large crack hidden under shelf in garage

What is above that? An outside corner? It may just be cosmetic or not...If that corner of the floor is a load point you really should address the problem. Did you have an inspection before purchase? If so get them back pronto....without seeing it or getting a better description I can't say what...

So I'm looking at circular saws...thoughts?

I am in the building trade and have used a wormdrive on occasions. Great saws , but I never really needed one. They are good for some things not for others....perhaps if you are doing framing with 3x12's regularly....other than that ....Porter -Cable ...made in the USA ....I swear by them and...

    A Rant About Builders

Park your car in your garage? Now there is an idea! I have trouble getting my bike back out of my 30X30.....I have seen garages with just a shovel a rake and a car in them...I just don't understand how that can be....lol

    Hello and greetings

Hi all, I found this site while researching an old jack I have had for years. I picked it up for 15 dollars and made a new leather seal and it worked for years ...but it has been sitting 10 years and needs a rebuild. I'm a carpenter by trade but have been getting into some metal working...
