The SK Holiday Sale & GIVEAWAY

I'd like to enter. It'd be fun to try these wrenches out.

What is it with these Wilton vises?

Wilton machinist vise owner here, in fact I own a couple of them. I think the inflated prices are all due to hype as a Yost, Reed, Parker or any number of other brands will hold stuff just as well. Wiltons do have a unique look but that's not why you buy a vise. What's really weird is the...

Anyone know portable Snapon toolbox weight?

Thank you. The Kra21 weighs twice that much. No wonder I find it so heavy....guess I am getting old.

Anyone know portable Snapon toolbox weight?

I have a Snapon Kra21 portable box but it's heavy even before I put tools in it. Does anyone know what the Snapon Kra24 box weighs? The Snapon site doesn't list the weight and I thought I'd ask to see if anyone knows before I committed to buying. I like to keep a smaller box in my house and...

Sums up the state of EBay as well.

Wiltons--which to keep, which to sell?

You should keep the one with the weld and pretty it up, if you want it to look good. I agree with the others that the weld kills the value. Sell the other one and pocket the cash.

The Snap-On Holy Grail Stack K-260

I'm with those who indicated that it's more of a novelty. I have a Snap-on stack from the 1950s and while it looks cool, it's nowhere near as usable as modern Snap-on toolbox offerings. I actually tried to sell it once and didn't get any local offers for more than $100. I figured I'd just...

How many of you buy vintage tools for use?

I'll use older tools provided that they are as efficient as new tools in getting the job done. Nostalgia is nice but if it takes me twice as long or causes fatigue, I'll use the new tool. A $2 used ratchet isn't a deal to me if I can't find a use for it. There's a perception that anything...

    Old tool boxes

This is very true. I have a 60 year old Snapon stack with friction slides that are super smooth. I can't imagine has many times the drawers have been opened and closed over the years and the slides are still solid.

What is the average price for a 5" Wilton bullet?

I agree with those who mention if you are not hung up on a Wilton, there are other brands which are just as good or better. In fact if I were buying new, I'd be tempted to go with a Yost vise. Wiltons are nice tools but not the golden vises that everyone makes them out to be.....and this is...

    Snap-On Surprise

OP, you have heard it already but you did the right thing and I am proud to know that there are honest people out there. Your integrity is worth way more than the MSRP of the item you received. Have a merry Christmas..... Jesus is smiling at you right now.

Sell the stuff. You won't miss it as much as you think you will.

    Craftsman NOS tool prices

While I understand the frustration, I don't agree with the sentiment. Estate sales companies are in the business to make money, too. They spend days setting up the sale, they have to pay staff, etc. If they put all this time and effort into setting up the sale with the sole purpose of pricing...

    Possible Flaw in Snap-on Ratchet

I wish you luck but I think they will likely tell you that sending you a ratchet without the guts is not an option. If anything, they will probably tell you to talk to your local driver. I know it's not what you want to hear but I think you should chalk this up to a lesson learned and remember...

Poor Quality on New SK Wrench Set

This sums it up. I have some SK stuff and it's still a good option at its current price point but you'll run into these sorts of things with SK. I picked up a new SK 1/4 ratchet a while back and the head was really misshapen (aka out of round) due to poor polishing/finishing. In this case, it...
