    The VISES of Garage Journal

I've read every post over the years but I have to say those 2 nickel Prentiss are simply the coolest vises I've seen on here. I only have a couple using vises but glad I can come here and see the fine collections some of you guys have put together. Keep up the great preservation work. Too many...

Does anyone make a tap and die organizer?

For the most used tap and dies I did like Grant but used a plastic box since 6 sizes covered everything I normally use. I did add a drill bit for the tap and a clearance drill bit in each compartment. Down side of the plastic box was no space for tap and die handles. I have a plug and bottom...

2 pr. Of Utica pliers - PO modified?

We used those thin nose needle pliers on printed circuit boards in late 60's, early 70's. The better version had a small pin in one jaw and a alignment hole in the other, half way up the jaw. This kept the jaws from twisting apart. They were only useful in certain applications.

Wood cabinets for tool, parts or nuts and bolts or even your socks. please show them

Dave, congratulations that is in outstanding condition. Like you I've wanted one for a long time but I've never seen one in the wild. How does the drawer being pulled out not ride on the lower drawer. The ones you have pulled doesn't show wear marks. What joints did they use in making the...

Metal Cabinets vintage or homemade and no name toolboxes. got any to show please do

No I couldn't find a name anywhere on mine. My brother got them from a military base 25+ years ago. The paint shop where he worked said the color was Duron Pilgrim Linege. ??? That info was on a piece of paper my brother had taped to one.

ProGun--- I have 9 of those very wall cabinets. Clips were impossible for me to find. I used a piece of 3/4'' plywood. I measured the width and height I wanted the shelf to be. Local paint guy mixed up some Latex paint that was a close match. I used a big dab of RTV on the back and just...

    Rabbit trap tips

If you're a wood worker then go to Pinterest and type in ''wood box traps for rabbits''. Lots of ideas. 60 + years ago I used a rectangle box with sliding door, had a forked pivot stick that a wood limb rode on and a stick in the rear of the box that tripped everything. Use apple smeared on...

Has any of you that uses BLO ever added Japan Dryer to help it dry quicker? I use it in Teak Oil on gunstocks to help dry the finish. Just wondering, I may be doing a 3 1/2'' Samson this fall in BLO.

This is a dumb question but how do you clean all the rust from a box like this. I see beautiful work done by you guys so I know it can be done. Thanks.

Thanks Drives, yes they do look like they could break easily. I may see if I can come up with a way to replace them. Drives it was a window air conditioner, sure has made me get my act together. You never think of starting over at 73 but the good thing is the next 73 will be better. Thanks...

Drives, in post 5 you show some parts cabinets in the 1st picture. I was given 2 of those but someone bent the pull tabs on nearly all the drawers. Probably why they were given to me. Would you have a slick way of reshaping them? Back in May we had a fire and while the house is being rebuilt...
