Non tool truck USA tools Proto vs SK

Big Proto fan here. Love the new ratchets and you can't beat the prices with the Zoro discount. Although, I do have a favorite SK 1/4" impact set (shallow, deep and swivel) that is a match made in heaven with the M12 impact. Just get the best of both and be happy!

    Can the BJP1 press/remove bushings?

Doing a suspension upgrade and looking for a good press combo to replace bushings. I know it's a ball joint press, but will it do bushings also? Also looked at the Schely kit, but would like a C-press. Thanks!

    Replacement for Craftsman mechanics tools?

I went with Wright, Proto, Sk, Channel Lock and others. Slowly adding some Snap-On. I tried the best I could to stay American made on the hand tools. ...I put them all in my Harbor Freight box.

What Sparked Your Love of Tools?

My Grandfather was a mechanic. He taught me vehicle maintenance and always let me work with him. Later, when we would go to visit, he would slip away and you'd go outside to find the vehicle up on jack stands and the tires being rotated. For several years I have not been doing any vehicle...

Direction for a new drive se

Re: Direction for a new drive set I did order the 3/8 set and jumped right in. Complete brake job. I am glad I went with the new set. 1/4 and 1/2 sound simplistic, but I can tell you the 3/8 was the go-to set. Some of the bolts were to big/tough for the small set and the big set was almost too...

    Big Harbor Freight Day!

I left the garage while it was doing the burn in. I may build a sound box or wall to put it behind if it gets too bad.

    Big Harbor Freight Day!

New toys: Also got the top for my 44" box: Used the floor foam to make cut-out for my top drawer: Ran the compressor through the break-in procedure today and attached all the high-flow fittings to run my impact. Did the foam cut-out and waiting for the rest of my 3/8 drive stuff to show up...

Direction for a new drive se

I have a 3/8" ratchet just for the bit sets and other things. Just don't have the full socket set. I have overlap from 10mm to 15mm between my 1/4 and 1/2.

Direction for a new drive se

Home hobbyist. Have a few Toyotas and the kids cars I help with, along with all the mowers. I have been putting together a tool set and I need some advice. So far, I've put together a Proto 1/4" drive and 1/2" drive set. Thought maybe that would do it all and I'd skip the 3/8" set. Now I'm...
