The Detachment (Formerly The Chevy Stable)

Old thread can be found here Haven't spent much time on here in a long time, and barely updated my last thread just after the shop was finished. Decided to start fresh & post some current pics of the shop. I changed directions from having a place to build/work on cars, to having a place that...

The Chevy Stable-- My future garage

Figured I'd go ahead and throw an update on here...better late than never, right? :D Well, since I originally posted this thread, my whole life changed in nearly every way. Thus, my plans and schedule changed as well. I just began construction on the garage 15 months ago, and at this point...

    Tool you were impressed with

The ones that I can think of off the top of my head that really impressed me were my Gearwrench ratchet wrenches and my Gearwrench pass-thru socket set. Both have received more use than any of my other tools and have never given me a bit of trouble. The pass-thru sockets have been an absolute...

Items you upgraded after realizing how much you used them

Honestly, I just don't buy junk to begin with, whether I can afford it or not. If I need it, I buy it. That being said, I do have cheaper stuff for "beater" use or to throw in the truck toolbox that I find dirt cheap because it hardly ever gets used (like a full set of metric and standard...

    Ridgid Vise Value

Very nice. I never run across deals like that around here. I really like that color too.

    it's 2013 garage sale season!...

I have a full set of those that were given to me as a Christmas gift about 15 years ago or so. They still look brand new, as I'm not sure I've ever even touched them, other than to put them in my toolbox and when rearranging the toolbox.

Is my old snap on tools worth anything?

Hmm.. So do you think he was willing to accept a check from himself, or was this a cash-only kinda deal? At least the old man was really able to save some money on shipping costs. :lol_hitti

New Dewalt Hand Tools First Impression

The only DeWalt hand tools I own, or have used for that matter, are the chisels. I bought them a couple of months ago and I'm very pleased. Great ergonomics and seem to be well made. I used them to cut 3 interior slab doors, as well as a few other little projects and they have been very...

    wiha nut drivers?

I'm interested, too. I need a full set of metric and SAE and have been eyeing them. I was looking for Gearwrench also, but I'm guessing they don't make them anymore. I have found one actual set of Gearwrench and it is metric. Don't see them in the GW catalog either.

    Show your new tool arrivals

I plan to buy the same set very soon. It will replace my 18V NiCad DeWalt set. I have been a faithful DeWalt user for years, but the deal on the Milwaukee is too good to pass up with that warranty.

    Ratchet Crimp Tools

Yeah, I loved my old pair. Haven't had a chance to use these yet. The store I bought them at isn't close to me, but I may be working back up that way soon. If they still have any, I plan to buy a few more pairs. The other packages I saw had been ripped open and I didn't have time to inspect...

Looking for a deal on Green barn style gooseneck lights

These are black, but Northern Tool is running a small sale on them right now. Lowest price I've been able to find, short of getting lucky on ebay. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200485122_200485122

    Ratchet Crimp Tools

I got this pair, made by Ideal, last week at Ollie's Bargain Outlet for $7, new in unopened package... I couldn't believe it. I had this same pair a few years ago and it was $65, plus the other dies I had for it. I plan to buy some more dies for **** connectors and such. With my last set, I...

    Let's talk car entry tools!

Just used the Steck kit tonight at a car accident. Flipped the car on it's wheels and the key was still turned on. Car wasn't damaged real bad and none of the glass was broken, so we used the steck and were in the car in about 10 seconds. I promise, it will be money well spent.

    Let's talk car entry tools!

You won't regret it if you go with the Steck kit. That little air bag (or air wedge, as they call it) will spread the door open at the top, then you slide the t-bar in and either pull the handle, raise/slide the lock, push the lock button, etc. It has never taken me more than 30 seconds or so...
