    Welding Helmet

I love my Speedglas Helmet. It was expensive but the "Buy once-cry once" mentality is mandatory when it comes to my eyeballs. I had an auto darkening Harbor Freight Helmet as a secondary helmet for visitors but it always seemed to delay just a wee bit too long before darkening. Thankfully I...

    Trusty-Cook, 3-Pack Specials

Great Deals! Several gearheads will be grateful when these arrive at my door. I added a bossing mallet and a cool green flat flat to the order for some metalworking fun. Thanks for the "heads up"

    Dakota fix

Very Nice! I put cab corners and rockers on a 2001 that I bought for my kid. It is a great truck with a strong 4.7 engine. I had to pull the bed to sand/seal the frame also because the evil salt monster eats everything here in the northeast! :(

    Pick and pay junk yard

Those places are gold mines! I needed a parking brake adjuster for my Dakota that was discontinued and wasn't available anywhere. I pulled in and walked out into the field of rusting machines and had my part in no time. Some of the cars looked like they were attacked with a chainsaw or worse. A...

    Hanging fluorescent lights between purlins

The quick and easy way they use in commercial work is Unistrut. I am not sure if that is the "metal box material" you were talking about. I couldn't find any pictures to show exactly what I mean but here are two that show the different parts. In this pic ignore the white post hanging down, it...

    Torque wrench question

I had a Craftsman Torque Wrench never click when I went to torque a bolt, it ended up shearing off. I was very incompetent in not knowing that my tool had broken internally when I used it last. This site is a treasure trove of great info but the occasional hubris displayed makes my...

New 60v dewalt cordless tools ?

I think the tentative release date on these is August 23rd. I pre-ordered a grinder through CPO during their last 20% off sale. Hopefully I will have it to review by the first week of September. It looks like a great grinder with "plugged in" power. As a bonus I can use the batteries on my 20v...

    Show your new tool arrivals

The big brown truck dropped off my Costco Jack today. It made it all the way from California to Pennsylvania without any damage to the box! She is a beauty and at 58 pounds it won't be a pain to transport:

How do you mechanics with long hair keep it secured at work?

I am stealing that and making it my own!

    Best flat washers?

I agree completely. I grabbed a small pile of each size of those TSC grade 8 washers for my fastener box and never had an issue. Having all of the sizes at the house has saved my **** a few times and saved me a trip to wherever for a 10 cent washer. I would rather put my "Titanium" money into...

    Craftsman 3/4" breaker bar

I have a HF Breaker Bar in each of my vehicles now as the "lug wrench" with the correct size HF Impact Socket on it. I have done some evil things to them using them with a cheater bar and they never show any signs of damage or failure. I agree and give them 2:thumbup:

    Best flat washers?

If you have a Tractor Supply near you check out their bulk Grade 8 washers for $4.49/LB. They are solid and come in many sizes.

    auto body welding

Went the exact same route with the same place. I used the.023 wire and it worked great. I was able to do rockers and cab corners on an old pickup with little trouble. Practice on some random pieces of the same thickness you will be welding beforehand to get the feel of it. Body panels have...
