Yes, you have a genuine SB. There is no question about that for me. I'm still waiting to add a 707 to my collection. I'll likely go new though and pick me up a Eaton bare pump and spin it with a 7.5hp Baldor for my home shop compressor when I get my ducks in row. For now I'll just scoop up all...
12 point bolts and fastners get 12 point sockets. Stick with 6 point if you don't care too much about the increased distance to get it indexed and seated and you don't truly need a 12 point socket. As mentioned the likelihood of rounding bolts and fasteners becomes very unlikely assuming you're...
Correct o mundo! I think in the future I'll call it good (a clone) if I see an aftercooler bolted up and stop right there. Easy enough for me since it sticks out like a sore thumb :)

I can't tell what that is from the picture but if you say it is you must know so. That's not something that is fixed to the bare pump however and that's what has been pointed out that is a tell tell sign it's not an original.

That's an intercooler (cools between the 2 stages or between the lp discharge and hp intake). The previous posts were mentioning the aftercooler that comes off the hp discharge port and it's seen on the clones but not on the original Saylor Beall 705's

I agree with you 100% on the 5hp Gardner Denvers I have an R30 right now that's getting a 7.5 horse single phase and I'd like to pick up R15's for my pump collection but they don't pop up in my area covered in grease minus the tank and motor. I only find them tank mounted with a good motor and...
Great thanks that makes a lot more sense lol. If it doesn't have an aftercooler I'll ask them to look and see if it has 4122 cast into the top of the head (LP discharge outlet???) if that checks out I'm sure the the bottom of the valves will have the clown face

I'm not calling the aftercooler "the funny thing " I know what it is. I'm asking what's so funny or wonky about it that clues you in on it not being an authentic SB? The aftercooler should attach to the discharge outlet of the HP piston. I'm not following the part where you say it should be...
You have me confused but I know you're making some good points. I'm still trying to decode your "b/t". And you're talking about the intercooler between the lp discharge and hp intake or the aftercooler that comes off the hp discharge that looks funny on that pump?

I know it's a 705 or a cloned version. Supposedly there is no metal identification tag on it. I've heard that a billion times and I tell them where to chip away at the dried up crusty dirty oil and bam there it is. He's adamant there isn't one though.

I'm looking at a pump that's not too far away from me but I'm already assuming it's a 705 clone. What are your opinions? Do all the authentic pumps have Saylor Beall made in the usa cast into the side of the crankcase? I had heard the earlier ones didn't have it and they only started that when...
You likely don't even need to get up to 145psi. I'm just wondering how little cfm that pump will deliver at that psi with it already spinning so slow. It's likely you'd pick up another 2 or 3 cfm walking the cut out to a lower psi

Skip the lift and use your noggin well unless you have limited mobility or you're not comfortable on a ladder balancing a sheet on your head. One screw or drywall nail will hold 75 percent of the weight while you're kinda holding up then just hurry or take your time. If it's rips through sink...
