new screwdrivers

ive been using the harbor freight screwdrivers for about 6 months professionally now and they have been holding up great and i love them but a while back i had the chance to use the snap-on instints side by side with the matcos. i liked the matcos pretty well.

then after some research i found Witte Makes the matco screwdrivers. and also the screwdrivers just branded Witte are about half the price of the Matco Witte's

how is the witte warranty? i cant find any info on it? will matco warranty them?

When you buy the Matco instead of the Witte, you are really buying the warranty. I have the Matco variety that I got for a steal and it is nice to know they will replace them for free, but I would probably would have just bought the Witte if not, and replaced them out of pocket when they break. They are fantastic screwdrivers.

They sell Witte screwdrivers through Sears. If you have SYW points, you can get them cheap. I have two Witte Maxxpro plus that I bought for $4 and $8 with free shipping, both with hex bolsters.

I have both Matco and Cornwell both are made by witte great screwdriver

But warranty will be strictest thru witte themselves and I believe Anglo America is the us distribution and will have to be done thru them

The best example I can say is Irwin taps which come with 30 warranty but thru the tool trucks lifetime

Get the Matco or Cornwell branded ones. I have a Cornwell set and they are the best fitting Phillips drivers I have used. If you are so worried about warranty you need to buy from these 2. If not get them on line from witte.

If so where do you guys buy them on the web for a good price any links would help me out.

That price seems outrageous to me even if the warranty is much better. Compare the price of that 8 piece set to this 6 piece Witte set from Walmart.

I've got a nice set of Wera screwdrivers or I would probably be looking at a set of Witte.

The Matco set goes on special for $120 or $140 and in the past they've also run promos where they throw in the 2 stubbies free. I wasn't a fan of the Velcro grip of the Witte but some guys love them. They also lack hex bolsters and they're normal coated tips, no anti-cam out ribs. As stated when you buy them from Cornwell or Matco you're paying through the nose for the ability to take a worn out or broken screwdriver and get a new one. I wouldn't even attempt to warranty a Witte/Wera/Wiha. First off they aren't anywhere near as liberal about it and mostly its just not worth the hassle especially if they want you to mail it back for "examination".

They're just nice and cheaper than Matco. They have a weird material on them that is gritty, it's a nice texture almost like sandpaper. I just wish they had markings on the top.

I have that 8 piece set, but I was able to get it for new for $50. The thing that I REALLY like about them is the grip/control. They grab screws extremely well and the way they fit in the hand gives the user great feel. I tend to over torque screws when I'm reassembling things. The Matco/Witte make it easy to get the right amount of torque every time, and for disassembly, they can remove some of the most stubborn screws. If they can't do it, out comes the hand impact driver. For reference: My other screwdrivers are SO hard handle, Klein, and Wiha.
