I’ve been installing and using nest for years. It’s good stuff. For zoning with dampers just swap out the panel for a hz panel. If you dont have a c wire you can use the g wire and jump. y/g at the panel. Most people do t use the fan feature anyway.
If nest is wired correctly 99.9 % of people...
Do you have a circuit breaker outside for a disconnect?
You should have 4 wires out there.
2 are line
2 are load. Look closely.
Check across line side
You should have 240
Check across load side
You should have 240. If one has 0 that’s where your problem is. You have a bad disconnect.

That’s pretty good
But nobody mentioned that if you reduce the returns the duct work will **** in and out making noise
Return air is your friend.

?? Honeywell isn’t what it used to be.the company I work for has been trying to get away from them as much as they can. Although they have a corner of the market that you can’t avoid.

Guys if you don’t have an extra wire for common you can use the “g” wire
Most people dont know what it does and don’t use that feature. Just jump “y&g” at your fan center and you’ll have an extra wire for common

You can still do it just use a bronze circulator and brass fittings. Put in 2 zone valves. Use the hot and cold inlet - outlet of the water heater. It works good like that

Do you have a boiler in the house? You could use a modine type of hot water coil and fan piped from the boiler. There cheap and easy to install

True ,, but it’s a rule of thumb that will put you in the ball park without much math.
So your house is 1600 sqft
You probably have . 3 ton max
