    Heating a 28x26 attached garage

 Here in Ontario we also have more hydro electricity then we can use.. yet our rate is closer to 20 cents / KWH when you consider all the additional charges on the bill. We have been known to pay the US to take our over flow and subsidize nuclear operations for power never produced...

    Electric Heater

Do you park the car in the garage or any other vehicle? I would look into removing the duct and any other path that allows carbon monoxide into the house. Where are you located.. might help in determining how much heater you really need.

Have you considered spray cellulose. I researched this prior to foaming my shop, Quotes I received were a little over 1/2 of what the foam guys wanted. Foam won out for my build because the only person I could find to spray cellulose was a 3 hour drive and couldn't meet my schedule. (he was...

Do I have a propane leak?

I wondered about that, is the tank designed in such a way it cant be over filled or is it up to the truck driver or gnome to stop filling.. The replacement leased tank looks new and has a "remote ready" gauge (although I didn't look for dates stamped on the tank). I've been a propane user for...

Quick update.. checked for a leak myself and could not see anything, very possible I missed it.. Called the propane company and they said the would come out a look at it.. Had not heard from them in a week, walked to the back of the shop today to see where the gauge was sitting and the tank...

Do I have a propane leak?

Over the summer I swear I saw one of my two 400 lb propane tanks drop from 75 to 65 on the gauge. the second tank remained at 80.. In late Aug I called the company and expressed a concern of a possible leak. I could smell a hint of propane on the suspected tank. They dispatched a tech who ran a...

Propane heater or Electric heater for 20x40 in Montreal,Qc,Canada

Why did you rule out propane? (sorry just saw the thread) In Ontario propane is 1/2 the cost of electricity for the same BTU. Electricity runs .20 KWH and propane is .59. 1 dollar gets you 5 KW using electricity or 10.28 KW using propane (amusing heater is 85% efficient)

    Mini Split Running Costs

New Shop build floor heat questions

I'm a couple of hours north of you.. Building inspector wasn't real concerned about in floor heat as long as I had R10 under the slab.... that was two years ago, maybe things have changed. I would recommend R50 in the ceiling.
