    Drill Press Wobble

A picture is a great idea...I will be back out there by the weekend and will post one. I am guessing I could do more damage by not removing the chuck properly so any advice I can get would be welcome. Thanks again guys!

    Drill Press Wobble

Thanks guys. I looked it over and closed it up and it seems like the three jaws are about even so maybe the next step is to remove it. My hand drills have a screw inside - I am not at the shop today but if there is a different method/tip for removing the chuck from the spindle I am all ears!

    Drill Press Wobble

Wondering if somebody can help me figure out what is up with my drill press. I can't seem to get a bit in the chuck without at least a little bit of wobble. When I lay a tool along the outside of the spinning chuck it seems to be smooth (seemingly no no bounce or wobble) and the same with the...

    Sealing overhead door

Yes this is for the regular old garage door. It was just built last year, and it has a good quality insulated door so the usual stuff is there - exterior stops with vinyl flashing, large door bottom gasket, and it even has some sealing material between the sections. I am looking for something...

    Sealing overhead door

Any good ideas or suggestions for sealing up the gaps on the side of overhead doors? I don't have big gaps but there is certainly some air getting in/out that would be good to stop. I don't often use the big door in the off season, but it would be ideal if there was something that was easyt o...

    Recommended low temp setting

Thanks to everyone for some great replies. After a month or so if tinkering with the temp and working outside (although temps have been pretty mild so far this season on this side of the Cheddar Curtain). I initially set the base temp at 50 and warmed it up to 60 or 65 while working out there...

    Recommended low temp setting

Reading the posts about thermostat low settings had me wondering what those if you in northern climates use for a routine low setting in your garage/shop. I was surprised some of you wanted to be able to set a temp in the 30s or so. Two points I have been relying on: 1. a friend suggested a...

    Insulating attic with air gap?

IF it looks like my garage attic, the soffit vents and rafter baffles are open to the space between the ceiling and the roof so the roof insulation would not help the finished/heated space below. Like you I added some storage flooring and made a sandwich of 1/2 inch OSB with 2 inch rigid foam...

    Insulating attic stairs

Anyone have a practical DIY suggestion for insulating my pull down stairs? I know the manufacturer offers a kit of some kind, but I wondering if I can put something together that is just as practical if not more so. My thinking so far is some sort of quilt or blanket with an insulation backing...
