Hypoid Saw - teardown and review

I have owned both, although not at the same time. The Skill 77 (no mag version) was noticeably heavier. Power wise, I couldn't tell a difference. If there was any it was minimal. Funny thing, the Makita hyphoid saw i own (a few years old) is made in Buford, GA. The skill 77s are all now...

Hypoid Saw - teardown and review

Makita has been building these hyphoid saws since the early 80s (I believe). I think they got it down by now. I like mine. Smooth operator.

A question for Milwaukee tool company

Right, they will discontinue the corded ones and introduce a cordless one. Other companies already have......Metabo for one.

A question for Milwaukee tool company

Its apparent to me that Milwaukee's long term goal is to do away with corded power tools altogether. I believe i have read a quote from the current leadership saying as much. Really, the only corded tool I have seen from them showing innovation is their new deep cut bandsaws. Everything else...

    Cresent Pliers and rust

No, I don't think a new tool should rust like that. On a side note, there is a reason almost everything in Harbor Freight is rusty. Cheap Chinese metal and manufacturing techniques combined with very little coating. America's demand for the cheapest products have come back to bite us. This is...

    Milwaukee vs Makita

Both are really good. I really like the fact that you can still buy Makita tools manufactured in Japan and the USA. My latest 3 purchases of Makita tools (within last year) are made in Japan. The attention to detail, quality are very obvious on Japanese made products IMHO. The DS4000 drill I...

    Irwin Vise Grip adjustable wrenches

I avoid all Irwin tools since they moved iconic vise grip (all, I believe) manufacture to PRC. Thats just me.

I am sick of the MILWAUKEE HYPE!

I just bought a Milwaukee Magnetic drill press. I called technical services (1800 sawdust) and talked to a gent who assured me it was still being made in the USA. At least some Milwaukee tools are still made here. Zero cordless, I am sure.

Portable table saw review? Makita vs. Bosch

I have many Makita power tools. The only one I am disappointed in is my Makita 10" portable table saw. All seemed fine until i realized the blade arbor had lateral movement in it. In other words, you could grab the blade and pull it in and out a good 1/16" to 1/8" inch. This made for...
