    husqvarna chainsaw adjustment

Sounds like you may have partially stripped the adjuster pin by not slacking off the bar nuts first. It's not a big deal to replace adjuster screws and pins, take off the bar cover, the bar and chain, and there it is. The bar adjuster screw, and pin, only aid in holding the correct tension while...

Anyone have Air Jacks on their car?

Don't know about air jacks, but a friend had an old Austin Sheerline, years ago, that had a hydraulic cylinder at each wheel, operated by a hand pump and valve block beside the drivers seat. Pretty slick!

Help identify single stage 4 cylinder compressor pump

I don't know about yours, but I have a 2cyl 2stage aluminum bodied compressor that also has a cast aluminum finned intercooler, and a similar look to yours. It took me years of searching and I finally found that it was an Italian head, marketed some years ago in NA by DevilBiss. Yours may be...

    Odd Stainless steel vise grips

I tend to agree with outlaw, but the D ring is going to stay for exactly the reason gypsy brings up. They are going in my rigging kit. They are about be the most comfortable pliers I have ever used, the stainless is satin smooth with no sharp edges anywhere. I found a link to a supplier in the...

    Odd Stainless steel vise grips

Maybe... But can't find anything on them, anywhere (so far....). That's why I'm asking. BTW, they are regular serrated, curved grip jaws underneath the floating jaws. A mystery!

    Odd Stainless steel vise grips

Hi guys, I was poking through the local marine equipment consignment store yesterday, and came upon this odd pair of unused vise grips. They are a pair of unused AIGO Japan 7" SUS-304 STAINLESS STEEL. Vise grips, that have been, apparently professionally ( beautiful work) modified. The mods are...

My shop equipment restoration and fabrication

Very, very nicely done, all of it! Just curious, you are calling your Southbend lathe a 9", I think it is a "light ten". Keep up the great work!

    Tool investment

Don't panic, and just acquire good tools slowly, as you need them, and of course, as they present themselves (used!). Just keep in mind, the bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the cheap thrill of low price is forgotten. (As well as the knuckle scars caused by broken tools!)

Those pocket mikes were also made in a slightly different model for BURNDY as the BURNDY WIRE-MIKE. The same fractional inch scale, but instead go the decimal side scale they have stranded cable sizes and solid wire (AWG) scales. On the back they have pipe sizes on the slider, and a pipe to...

    Need Stihl Advice

On my K130R, at the advice of my local Stihl dealers tech, I use either Stihl synthetic oil at the recommended 50:1, or Amsoil Saber Professional oil, at 50:1, both excellent oils for a 4Mix engine. Also try to use non ethanol gas if available, and use a good stabilizer ( I use PRI-D). Keep the...

Mechanics, what are you using for a workbench?

All of my benches (about 25 linear feet in total) are thick plywood tops (two layers of 3/4") faced with thick battleship linoleum. Very, very tough, doesn't damage components being worked on, and can be belt sanded down and oiled every decade or so! Hard to get good BS Lino these days though....
