I wondered, because I've seen a bunch of pics like the one attached to my original post which are similar dimensions to my plan. I think if I were storing engines or something up there or having people up there for a hang out area then maybe I joists would be a must. Moving the beams front to...
I have a 30x48x14 pole building with bare walls (uninsulated walls) that I want to add a 10x36 loft to stuck in one corner and along the back wall and 9 ft high. My plan is to have a front support beam to the floor about every 12 feet. The back anchored to the large vertical beams that are part...
Thank you all for your advice. I guess I'm at a bit of a stand still. I am going to insulate the garage fully eventually. I was hoping for a temporary heating solution this winter so the garage doesn't get damp and a little moldy. The dehumidifiers last winter kept it dry but it didn't stay warm...
That will be my long term plan then. I don't have the money to run a gas line this autumn. What options are out there for me to still somewhat heat the shop this winter? Even if I can't get it to my desired working temp.
Hello all, I have a 30x48x14 pole garage with an insulated ceiling, non insulated walls and concrete floor with moisture barrier. I want to put a heater in it before the cold weather sets in here in Wa. I have one 110v line out to the garage. My goal is to keep it around 50 degrees when not in...
my main question regarding insulating my building is this: being that comfort is not part of the equation, would insulating my building change how much I would have to use my dehumidifiers? (I am not using heat and the dehumidifiers run on timers for 4 hours a day)
I do have the appropriately matched dehumidifiers for the area/sq ft. My building has one ridge vent centered 10 ft long. It has no insulation in the walls just the ceiling. Even with the dehumidifiers running 24/7 I can't get it to 60% humidity. However, it feels dry inside and I haven't...
well, I've got my dehumidifiers on timers and am going to roll with that indefinitely. what difference do you think it will make (if any) if I insulate the walls?
