    Turn Dishwasher to Parts Washer?

There are some 'portable' dishwashers. I bet you can find a conversion kit that will let make it portable. Or if you can just look at a kit you'll see what you need. The portable units generally just roll over to the sink and you hook the tap to it and then hook up the drain to the sink...

looking for info on an older tool

That kind'a looks like set of 'ring lock pliers' where a metal ring would be forced down the handle. But that is not the right shape handle. I think it's just a locking jaw plier (like a Vise-Grip but not a Vise-Grip). What does the stamping say? I cannot read all of it.

How do you convert a bech or angle grinder to a polisher?

Just remember that if you are using multiple buffing compounds you need a different wheel for each. The compound will stay in the rag wheel and scuff/scratch/ruin the finish when you go to a different compound.

Tool set for my Haiti job

American: Bleach, 3 drops per liter will kill pretty much anything but some very very persistent eggs. And 9 minutes above 180 degrees will kill them. I do have iodine tablets, and they WILL kill everything.

Tool set for my Haiti job

D9H: Got them, wish I could get the big 5 lb contractor locks but I don't think they'd even fit on the tool box. I really wish I could get a job site tool box down there and mount it in my vehicle. Might see about getting one fabbed up. Seagravedigger: That's a pretty good call. I'll price...

Tool set for my Haiti job

Givl: see below. Mustangmike: I have heard from a lot of expats that have been in Haiti that the violence is bad. Like chop you up in little pieces for the change in your pocket bad. But I did 4 years in Guinea, West Africa. And about two of those years were in Conakry, the capitol...

Tool set for my Haiti job

Thanks for the input ya'll. Did forget to list these items: Flashlight (streamlight key light and a Streamlight that uses CR123 not sure which one it is anymore) I'm going to work at a hospital so I'm hoping I can score nitrile gloves and first aid gear from them. I do have some band-aids in...

Tool set for my Haiti job

Howdy. So I've worked on this a while and this is what I've come up with as my take list and my get it there list. Any feedback is welcome. I'm going to Haiti to work on some Diesel gensets, set up a PM program, train locals on the PM program, and be a general fix it guy. I've just learned...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

The had a 7 function digital multi-meter on sale for $4.00 today. I got one to keep in the tool box. Will post about it when I get a chance to use it. I have a used Fluke from a pawnshop but it stays in the garage. So this will not be a primary.

    #0000 Phillips Screwdrivers

Sorry to dig up old threads: Many laptops (especially Mac's) have a few #0000 screws on the inside. Usually in sub-components (the machine assembled parts) have a couple. And some of the bizarro / rarer parts will have them (Hitachi micro-sata drives IIRC). EDIT: Didn't read the whole...

Socket set recommendations and kit question

Thanks for all the help. I'm reworking my buy list and I'll post a final list with pictures before I ship out. I'm ordering the Knipex and filter wrenches now. I've been told that Stanley tools are available in country but I'm not going to hold out and get a set of tools just to make sure I...

What can 7500 RPM motors be used for?

You could spin one heck of a big hard drive platter, 7200 is the fast speed but you could make it do. High volume pump? Fan, I mean why not? Spin a 3 phase Delta motor to generate 3 phase power? I've always wanted to build one just because. Or some sort of scary scary bladed death...

Wire Wheel - Wear Gloves or Not

I bare hand with a grinder. Gloves on wire wheel. But I also use a glove when running a polishing wheel or sharpening a tungsten electrode for TIG welding on a grinder, mostly due to the heat.

Socket set recommendations and kit question

Hey, So I wrote up a big long post asking for advice on tool sets how many of what type and this and that. Then I noticed it was WAY too long, and I do apologize for the length of this one in advance. So I'll just hit on socket sets cause that's probably going to be my biggest expense. I'm...
