    Zero Turn Recommendations

I have a 54" Toro Time cutter with a 23 hp Kawasaki motor. It's been great. I have 2.5 acres that I mow and another 2 acres that I let grow. some of the un mown pasture had a lot of thistles and I decided to see if I could mow it. In many areas it was dense Reed's canary grass about 54...

Recommend stain for outdoor cedar furniture?

I read through your thread with the intent of recommending Sikkens/PPG since I have been very happy with it in a similar climate and nearly identical chairs. Last time I bought stain the store where I had gotten it no longer carried it. i bought the Australian wood finish, it is not nearly as...

Reptile enclosure builds + anything wood

I had a lot of reptiles when I was younger, and built many of my own enclosures. I raised snakes as a little side business that supported my reptile keeping an other hobbies. Finances were pretty tight at that time and many of my builds were centered around glass and materials that I got...

    Raccoon poop

I am a veterinarian that did my senior year case report paper on baylis ascaris [raccoon roundworm]. The case I worked and wrote up involved macaws that were kept in a large cage that previously housed raccoons. Both birds died. Some birds are very susceptible. It is real, but adult humans are...

    Compact/trim routers?

For an inexpensive trim router I have a Rocky 30 from MLCS woodworking. Variable speed, corded and you can buy with both a fixed and plunge base for less than $100. Not as nice and polished a setup as others but it has been reliable and does the job. I think it a great value. I also have an...

Smaller table saw or smaller blade?

If safety is a major concern look at Sawstop. more mone but should put your mind at ease. Normal 10" contractor saw with riving knife, guards and push sticks, push blocks etc. You can be safe-if you use the equipment and follow safety rules

Taking metal off the shed roof

It would be slow, but an oscillating tool from the inside between the rafter and tin?

Is wood paneling in a garage and workshop okay?

My insurance said that would not insure a building with a wood stove if there was anything with gasoline stored in it. vehicles, mowers, chainsaw etc. Increased premium if wood stove but no flammable liquids, I opted to go with no stove. I have OSB on the walls. i am more wood working than...

Strategies for those of us with ADHD

I keep lists on my phone. Shopping lists so I don't forget something when I go. A list of over all projects and break the big projects in manageable steps. I really try to keep all tools with what I am working on. A huge time waster form me is looking for "The tool I just had in my hand 3...

    Rustics Wood Shop...

Floor outlets were mentioned, but i would suggest ceiling outlets that you can do dropped chords from. Dust collection draws lots of amps, be sure it has it's own circuit.

Why is pegboard so disappointing? Am I doing it wrong?

I don't have any pegboard anymore. I have tool boxes, benches with plastic totes underneath, and a large lateral file cabinet for tool storage. Above benches I keep a few commonly used tools on shop made holders and use magnetic strips. Seems much easier to keep organized than when I had...

    kitty litter- oil stains

The problem with using concrete it is a single use Item, at least around here with our relatively high humidity a bag quickly becomes a block.

Should I get a Sliding Compound Miter Saw?

I sure wouldn't buy based on the last Menards 11% sale of the year. They will have the same sale next year and we are at the end of this year. Other stores will likely have better sales anyway. I find the 11% off normal [overpriced] merchandise is seldom as good a deal as what you can find...

Planning a Morton 30x40 build in Massachusetts

I did a 30 by 40 stick built building, significantly less expensive than a Morton here at the time. Morton would have been better built and quicker, my contractor wasn't good. I planned on in floor heat and my plumber HVAC talked me out of it and I put in a natural gas overhead. I have in...

I need to pull saplings and small trees. help!

Tordon works great cut a dozen then squirt tordon on the stumps, blue dye tells which ones are done. pulling 1.5 inch sapplings would really tear the area up. Go back every few months and hit any new growth with Round-up or a tree and brush killer.
