    Cobbled Together Wire Wheel

recently inherited a bunch of rusty old tools.... and some old electric motors. I've been cleaning the tools with a wire wheel on an angle grinder. I recently bought a bench grinder with the intention of putting a wire wheel on it, and was seriously disappointed in the lack of accessibility...

    Air compressor oil

I've just recently changed oil in my Rolair compressor. Its the first time I've ever changed oil in a compressor. I researched around the internets and decided to use Royal Purple Synthetic. It seems to be working fine. It might be a placebo effect, but it seems to be a little quieter as well.

Any reason to keep electric drills? Have battery and air ones.

I haven't used my corded drills in awhile as well. But I wouldn't consider throwing them away. I haven't really used my wife lately either, but I'll probably keep her around. Back in the 80s , in my first go round with cordless drills, my dewalt 12v batteries all gave out on me.... and I...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

What can you learned viceologists tell me about this Wilton Vise I've recently inherited? Manufacture date? It works perfectly, but I do plan to refinish it soon. Any pro-tips on the best way to clean the slide, or a source for paint?

    Blower Motor Voltage?

So, if I want to make one blower only, and run on 110, I would need to gut a gas furnace, not electric?

    Blower Motor Voltage?

Thanks, I could live with just a single speed blower. What about the typical motor voltage? 120 or 240?

What temp do you keep your shop at?

Mine is tied into my house central air, with an inline electric damper. It stays about the same as my house. 69-70 in the winter, and about 73-75 in the summer.

    Blower Motor Voltage?

I recently tried to make me a Shop Dust Filter out of a Box Fan. It was a dismal failure due to lack of enough static pressure. However, my Dad had quite a few spare furnaces laying around with, I assume, working blower fans in them. If I gut all the heating elements out them and use them...

    Bench Grinder Wire Wheel Adapters

Well, for one thing, I just inherited a bunch of old tools that needed some cleaning 25 years ago. And now that I finally have a shop of my own, I pretty ****, so far, about keeping all my stuff clean. I think I will check into Scotchbrite, thanks. I seen something about them when I was...

    Bench Grinder Wire Wheel Adapters

I ended up not using the 5/8" collars because they were a little too wide to keep the wheel centered, but the 9/16" washers worked perfectly. I think I also learned an expensive lesson in that cleaning tools with a mini-grinder in a vice, which is what I was doing before, works better that a...

    Disappearing Pics?

I've been trying to learn how to posts pics on these forums. I seem to have somewhat figured it out. I simply upload them to Imgur, then copy & paste the BB Code into my posts. It worked great last night on my home computer, but when I got to work the next day, on my work computer, some of...
