Window AC to cool meat locker.

This was built in the late 70's by my grandfather and I still use it regularly on the ranch. It will reach temperatures below freezing but I keep it at about 35-36 most of the time.

    it's 6ft long, 500lbs, and i can't erect it.

Make sure that you have a safety "thru pin" stuck thru the yellow outer housing and the inner rusty hammer/driver weight before lifting with your hoist. That rusty inner section will extend way out the top of the yellow body section when it is at the top of it's travel so it to me still appears...

    it's 6ft long, 500lbs, and i can't erect it.

Your unit appears to have the weight close to the bottom position and should have a safety pin to lock the weight (hammer) to the housing. With the safety lock pin in place I attach the chain around the base of the weight which is on the top of the unit and lift it with a front end loader, the...

    it's 6ft long, 500lbs, and i can't erect it.

I have the same t-post driver. The rubber drive wheel and the brakes get slicked over and slip until you work it long enough to get "tacky" again so be very mindful that yours may do the same when first working it (the hammer can slip down and harm you). I built a sleeve with a handle that...

    shop fan Vs air conditioner

I have been thinking about the wattage the fans are using in my shop vs the wattage on a little 12k window unit or two or three. Maybe a couple of mini splits. Already tired of hot air blow'in around.

Ace Hardware to carry Craftsman Tools.

I support Craftsman when they manufacture a product that meets my basic standards. I do not care about warranty. In my case if you have to get a simple tool warrantied chances are that it will go back over and over. Don't want to make time for multiple warranty's. Cheap prices make me wary. I...

    Very dissapointed with Craftsman sockets

That is so true Merkava. I have fired up the welder a few times to weld up cracks so I did not lose a socket that my grandpa or dad gave me.

    Very dissapointed with Craftsman sockets

The shop that I work for charges a service call fee and $75 an hour from the time we leave the shop to the time we return and all the time is charged out to the customer. If I have to find a town to get a replacement tool or a part the customer pays fair or not. If I drive slow, eat lunch, have...

    Very dissapointed with Craftsman sockets

Craftsman is just fine if it holds up for your usage. It holds up fine for me in my ranch truck toolboxes. I like to use it in the race car trailer as it is cheap to replace when it get's stolen. It does not work for me in my shop or my job. If I am out in the middle of the sticks on a service...
