It's one partition wall both sides.

So I need to pad the existing studs out a bit . Existing are 2.5" , so I need another inch. Is it a problem to use 1/2" drywall to gain the 1"? Or is plywood necessary. Going to be hanging 1/2" Sheetrock. Thanks!

How did you measure? Sure it's not 1 1/2? Worked with a bunch of fitters and I've never seen or heard of 1 7/8.

Looking on McMaster, it's going to run around 30-40 to get it to your door. Don't know the shipping cost...
