Thanks Gerry, I did the second coat last night. After filling and doing the first coat, I could not tell where the cracks where and the second coat dried way too fast than the first.

It will hide dirt, but the surface has lot of natural grooves, so worried if it might lodge dirt and make it a cleaning nightmare. The water heaters were probably designed for the floor plan and the number of baths, etc.. Remember we are in Texas....

That is funny, the employee at Lowes too said it is a bad idea and suggested to use the epoxy flooring they carry.:lol:

Hello Angelfire, thanks for the suggestion. Initially after getting quotes, I thought I could tackle the project but after reading some diy experiences here, it might be well worth to outsource the job. And I am not in any hurry, so will wait it out and see if the price drops or might come...

We got some samples and tested as Dakota and Ray suggested. They were little slippery while wet, so we decided not to go with those. We found these and their PEI rating is 5 and the surface has a rustic slate like texture. It was not on sale and regularly priced, way over our budget, so...
