I have jacked up car on my porcelain floor before but this is the first time I took the pic.
That is a 4500 lbs car resting on the jack alone.
Jack stands are there only as a backup but are not supporting the car.
I am very happy with the tile.
Everything is holding up fine and both of my vehicles are 4500 lbs+.
I or any of the family members haven't slipped yet even with water on the floor. We do walk carefully just knowing that we are walking on the tile.
I haven't cleaned it for months but still...
I did something similar to what you are describing. I also had an inch or so lip already and tile+thinset made it around 2 inches. I used Quikrete and picked higher quality within what was available. I made sure to keep it wet a week for slow cure. One year later no issues with my two 4500lbs...
Garage floor was already 1.25" higher than the driveway and then tiles+thinset added another 0.75"
Now total 2" above driveway.
Concrete ramp is at about 45 degrees angle.
For transition you can also create a small ramp with cement just like the the picture of my installation. Cheap and hasn't chipped in months.

Also, +1 on the tile baseboard for OP. I had debated on it whe I tiled my garage but very happy that I went for it.
Ceramic is supposed to be sealed. Added expense will compensate the price difference. With this difference consider both the same cost. I think either of these tiles will work. Between the two it is a hard choice. Ceramic definitely looks better. I have a similar rustic look tile but porcelain...
