Wouldn't you see a lot of fluctuating pressure problems with a system plumbed entirely with rubber, because of the flexibility? Imagine a compressor tank made of rubber...

It is a lot easier to find things that have fallen on the floor if it is a solid color.

I was always told to brick lay sheathing, don't know if that is relevant... and also to leave 1/8" for expansion and contraction at the seams...
