Anyone done a DIY wheel alignment?

In the 70s I raced a Mini in SCCA, no crew just amateur racing. Car had a poor man's lsd, a "broken locker" diff where they weld a couple of spider teeth, then break the welds, so on corner turn-in you had a moment of diff action before the spiders rotated around to the welded teeth and it...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT 30' x 80' building getting started

still going slow. To get the shelves and cabinets and workbenches from the old shop, I first have to get them emptied out. So all that stuff is stacked in piles in the old shop, up on the loft or all over the main floor. This, of course, is my chance to clean up/fix up, I paint all the bare...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT 30' x 80' building getting started

I partitioned off the area under the smaller mezzanine. Hoping to keep at least part of the shop clean and tidy. Might eventually make this a mancavish office, tbd. I had the 1960s sliding glass doors from the old house in storage, decided could use them here, provides clear view into shop...

sorry havent posted in a while. Electric is in, floor got the polyrazmatazz floor coating, now have concrete pads outside the OH doors. Off the crutches but still walking like Frankenstein. Got a Baker scaffold, much easier to work on the underside of the mezzanines than on a ladder...

Can You Hose Out a Steel Building?

new 30' x 80' metal building, electric is in, waiting for permits to get the driveway done. Building still empty (still recuperating from April injury). Floor getting done next week; I hadnt thought much about water intrusion, now you have me wondering if the floor coating will help to "seal"...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT 30' x 80' building getting started

Codyboy, re your stairs comment, the smaller mezzanine is about half the shop width, the larger mezzanine at the back spans the whole width. So the no-mezzanine space beside the small mezzanine is where the RV-size OH door is, I can back in an RV (if I ever get one) or back in a boat on a...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT 30' x 80' building getting started

Codyboy, I can send you the mezzanine pages from the building's plan pdf if the attached snip is not clear. The outer frame of the mezzanines are heavier I beams, the joists spanning the frame are not open-web, they are like two C channels welded back-to-back. The mfg p/n shown is 12X7DC14...

To assemble decking on the mezzanines, used a ladder to get up top. Got a couple of cheap jib cranes with electric winches from Amazon. Used a come-a-long to get the cranes up, mounted one on each mezzanine near a front corner column. Got 30 sheets of Home O'De Po 4'x8' T&G 3/4" plywood...

    23/32-in x 4-ft x 8-ft OSB Subfloor For Garage Interior Walls

Some OSBs outgass formaldehyde more than plywood, absorb moisture more than plywood, screws pull out more easily. As a subfloor you may not have problems, as wall material I dont know.

    Ball Hitch for yard cart

modified a yard cart. Dropped the center section, use it to haul the fuel jugs, or haul the start battery to pit lane. Just turned the hook handle 90 deg. Maybe got lucky with the handle shape, but it never pops out even with the mini bike bopping over rough ground. Can take close up pics...

termite spray guy tells me the county requires this because some metal buildings, like the old quonset huts, had a significant wood content. Some had wood floors.

80% inspection complete. Apparently the county requires additional termite treatment around any new building perimeter. Soil was treated before the concrete pad was done. I guess we have termites that eat metal now? Not going to argue, termite treatment next. Getting complements on work...

OH doors installed. More gap at the top of the big door when it is closed than I think should be there, installer says its normal but they can provide some kind of brush strip to close the gap. GC requested county inspection for sometime today.
