I need help from Santa Rosa area members

I don't know how to post this, especially since the rules require prices. Admins, any assistance is appreciated I live in Orlando and my father-in-law lived in Santa Rosa, CA. He recently passed away and has a two car garage full of woodworking tools as his shop. He did quality woodworking...

    Genie 6170H-B not working

I didn't mention every step, but the wall mount is in place. The door wasn't responding to the wall mount either. I need to say that reading is fundamental as we retraced the steps and missed a very important one. The instructions have a notice saying that you need to have the door open half...

    Genie 6170H-B not working

I'm looking for some assistance from those familiar with the Genie jackshaft garage door opener. My son bought one for my high lift door because he's tired of manually lifting the door in the rain. He bought it used from a builder that said it was installed for two weeks and they removed it...

WIll foam board 1 inch be thick enough for Arizona heat in a metal building

I didn't say you wouldn't feel the temp difference in the cup, I said it wouldn't feel hot. Now, that thin cup is also keeping 200 degree liquid from burning your hand, so I thought a thicker material would definitely keep 120 plus degree panels, cooler. I do agree that the sun beating on the...

    Need Help Cleaning Car Carpet

How so? If you're removing it and power washing it, wouldn't it be easier to install the new carpet instead of reinstalling the old washed carpet?

WIll foam board 1 inch be thick enough for Arizona heat in a metal building

If a 1/16" styrofoam cup will keep 200 degree coffee from burning your hand, or even feeling hot, I don't understand how 1/2" or even 1" closed cell foam boards don't do even better. I never understood the theory that spray foam needs to be so thick to work. Same thought with foam panels.

    Need Help Cleaning Car Carpet

Depends on the vehicle, but it may be a better choice, and less hassle, to just replace the carpet. You get a fresh interior, new car smell and you don't need to worry about what that stain was. I've seen some carpets for as low as $200.

Why am I the only one in my neighborhood to pay for a backflow test every year?

This is the first year we need to do this test. The city I live in has been fined for not providing records. We have a backflow preventer installed about 1 foot from the water meter at the street. What seems ridiculous is that we have been notified that the only homes requiring this annual...

4 Post Lift Twisted on the Way Down

The biggest thing to consider between lift types is that a "C" channel type lift will allow the other 3 columns to continue lowering while the 4th is hung up, causing the lift to be unstable. The boxed channel will bind and cause the lift to stop lowering because it can't lower.

4 Post Lift Twisted on the Way Down

I had something similar happen last year with mine. The far corner latch didn't release because the handle linkage screw loosened itself. The Advantage lift won't allow the system to drop as it binds when this happens and stops going down. I normaled the lift back to proper position and went...

    Standard Auto Lifts

I don't have any experience with these, but just doing a quick search for them, it appears the 9000# unit is the one similar to BYB/Advantage/Wildfire. However, I don't know about their pricing, so what I can see, it looks like they are inferior in some aspects to Advantage. Their foot...

    Advantage Lift 4-Post

If you start watching their installation video #4, you can see the motor bracket and how it gets attached within the first couple minutes of the video. You can even see how much flex is in the bracket while he's tightening the bolts. Maybe 1" max. At 10:50 in that same video, you can see the...

    Advantage Lift 4-Post

The motor and pump bracket is a 2x4 box tubing welded to a 1/2" flat plate at the top. The flat plate is bolted to the top of the 5x5 boxed column. There might be 1" total flex movement in the bracket if I push on it, but it doesn't move at all when operating the lift. The lock release rods...
