I'm looking for some assistance from those familiar with the Genie jackshaft garage door opener.

My son bought one for my high lift door because he's tired of manually lifting the door in the rain. He bought it used from a builder that said it was installed for two weeks and they removed it because the client wanted a different unit. I installed it today, which is fairly simple. I ran the wiring for the two door sensors and installed the power lock unit.

Power the unit on and push the remote and I hear a motor whine inside for about 2 seconds, but the door doesn't lift. The sensor wiring is basic and the sensors are showing red on one, green on the other. As they should. The middle button on the remote was actuating the lock to the locked position. The LED lights flash as I press remote buttons, but the door doesn't move. I've tried reprogramming the remotes to make sure they worked with the head unit, but I get nothing.

After reprogramming the remotes, the LED flash but nothing from the opener. The manual release cable is re-engaged, so the door can't be opened manually and should be working, but it isn't. What am I missing on this?

Why are starting with remotes before getting the wall mounted button and door to function properly first?

Also it’s hard to follow but it sounds like your motor is trying but lock is not retracting????

Take the lock off the track and see if the door goes up and down

I didn't mention every step, but the wall mount is in place. The door wasn't responding to the wall mount either. I need to say that reading is fundamental as we retraced the steps and missed a very important one. The instructions have a notice saying that you need to have the door open half way to set the down limit, then set the up limit afterwards. We started with the door already down and tried setting the up limit.

So, follow th instructions and all works as designed. The up/down limits are now set and the wall remote works, as do the handhelds. One important step missed throws off the entire process.
