Heating recommendations for small work shop

I upgraded to the Comfort Zone 5000w heater from Princess auto that jvitez mentioned about 3 years ago and it has worked great. I keep it on the low (3000w) setting and it keeps my 384 sq ft shop at about 15 deg C.

    2 Post Lift Location

I agree with the right bay, only keep it towards the back of the garage so you can still park a car in front of it by the door.

    SawStop Test

I had no idea this would create such a heated discussion. We purchased a SawStop because in our 30yrs in the woodworking business we have seen our fair share of lost or mangled fingers. Not a lot fortunately, but our fair share. Up until about two years ago all our saws were unguarded with at...

    SawStop Test

I thought this might be of interest to show. Recently had an employee test out the new SawStop.:shocking:Luckily all he received was a nick on his finger. Surprisingly the blade was still usable. The saw just paid for itself.

Compressor , tank , dryer... Layout.

That looks like a nice dryer. Atlas Copco are quality units. We recently replaced our old 30hp Palatek rotary screw with a new 40hp Atlas Copco variable speed with integrated dryer, feeding into a 240 gallon tank. We are a 16000 sqft wood shop and so far at full production I haven't seen it run...

    Electric heater

I leave my 5000w Comfort Zone heater on all the time. It"s hardwired in. I have it on the 3000w setting with the thermostat at about 1/4 the way up. It keeps my 384sqft. insulated garage at about 12C (54F) degrees all winter. Seems safe so far. Used to have a 4000w construction heater hung from...

High bay metal halide to LED retrofit

We have many 400w halide fixtures in our shop. Recently we have been looking into an LED conversion for more consistent light and energy cost savings. Our electrician brought in a direct screw in replacement 150w LED bulb for us to try. Uses the original fixture with no modifications. Cost was...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Thanks for the info on my dad's old crowntop. I would think it is from the late 50's or early 60's as that would have been around the time he finished building our house. The handle is definitely steel, no signs of any plastic coating. Unlike the picture of the similar one drivesitfar posted...

    Let's see your Shop Clock

Finally found the box I stashed my grandmother's kitchen clock in. I remember seeing it hanging on the wall when I was a boy. Early 40's Westclox Belfast made in Canada. Still keeps perfect time.

Going to re pipe my shop... What to use.

I would definitely check out your chiller. We ran for about ten years with no tank and the chiller right beside the 30hp screw compressor (although in another room) followed by two filters and even in +40C weather we had no moisture. Sure noticed it in a hurry if we forgot to turn on the...
