Took an old industrial sewing machine, set up a table and now have a thriving upholstery and canvas business. Not what I thought I would be doing. But any time I can create with my hands I'm having a great time.
Small home machines can't run the thick D-92 thread needed to stitch vinyl. you might need to loosen some of the thread pretension from both spool and bobbin. going down in thread gauge will only upset you when the seem pops soon after. seats take a lot of abuse.

In my area it was just over $10 before Hurricane Sandy. The day after it hit the east coast I ran down to Lowe's and bought 30 sheets for pick up later. the following weeks it went up to $13 and is still rising.
