When I get my HD-9 here soon I will be adding a hinge to the steel ramps so they can swing UP. I will also add gas dampers to hold them in place vertically. With the dampers sized correctly the ramps will stay lowered when dropped and have a nice, soft lowering motion. Should be slick. In my...
Your ceiling is too low. How do you fit 103" of car height in a 100" ceiling? And that's without clearance for the runways, garage door and just clearance in general as lifts have to be raised slightly before lowered.
Anyone shopping similar 9k baseplate lifts as this should consider the DirectLift. It is really a Forward lift re-branded which technically makes it ALI certified without paying extra for the gold sticker. I've been shopping lifts for months now and that was a little tidbit I stumbled on. I'm...
Which ever side is safer, meaning which ever gives you more room to get out of the way. If the lift is close to a wall always put the controls on the opposite side. Never position yourself between the car and a fixed object. Squishy squish.
You're only 10" off. You could always run a diagonal 4x4 from the current 4x4 post to the stringers. And probably shorten that 103" even. Wouldn't hurt you floor space either.
Been using the Keurig system. Cup at a time. Fresh everytime. Never go back to drip again. A little pricey per cup but it's not like I'm drinking ten a day. Great for a garage...
Sounds like your ceiling beams are running parallel with the garage door. If the garage door header isn't stout enough, I would consider beefing it up. Bolted Lam beam maybe. Then flying a beam up the center, either above or flush bottom. Cut or strap beams as needed. If your ceiling beams are...
Hope your not using a regular hammer drill. Use the bigger spline type rotary hammers for a quicker, cleaner hole. The anchors will hold better. Go all the way through with the hole. Some guys use epoxy on the anchors as well.
If you raise the door, you'll have a trip hazard when exiting. Check your threshold type, if it's relatively flat replace (pain) with a nice tapered one that will help with water control. It'll be adjustable and with the proper sweep under the door slab, it shouldn't leak. If you live where...
This is doable. Frame a 2x6 wall and opening. Use pressure treated against concrete or just use throughout. Assuming the wall is very secure up top, sheath both sides with at least 1/2" ply or OSB. Sheathing can also be elinated in this case if you use horizontal blocking, say every 32". You can...
Hey- new to this forum. Have been researching this to death and have narrowed it down to the Bendpak or the Quality Lift. Quality is a division of Challenger and has a very compelling product. Both are certified and way more stout than anything from Direct, Greg Smith, etc. The Quality is the...
