For mrcool diy owners (need help please)

handyman - thanks for helping me... I suspect you saving me from breaking a plastic part! Not sure how soon I will get into my unit.... I am wondering if your hole could be a production mold injection site that created a failure... It seems that plugging might be an option - but parts warranty...

For mrcool diy owners (need help please)

The directions with mr cool said plug the hole not in use - (didn't really say how to egt to it...one on each side so that you can exit drain from either side.... however, the piping was already installed and the drain plug was installed - or so I was told - and I have not had that problem...

    MRCOOL - Not Cool

There are no other companies currently with a DIY system. Fredrick discontinued theirs in 2016. The is Climate RIght - you can sometimes find them by google...but I couldn't even find out where they are who there are - seems to be someone importing a stack of machines and slapping a name on...

Mr Cool indoor unit freezing up

My Mr. Cool froze up after a year. The service tech at $130.00 added refrigerant. He did not do a leak check (quoted $850.00). I determined/guessed/prayed that is was the shrader valve, which I replaced ($40.00 for the tool to do so without losing refrigerant). One year later, froze up again-...

Why I decided against a mini-split for my garage.

In Va I replaced a window unit with a minisplit and substantially reduced my energy use ( and noise level). My only concern is that I have now learned these units tend to mold up pretty bad. Leave them on, or at least run the fan only before shutting off, and be prepared to clean them - not...

    Minisplit expectations?

In response to BuickFarmer. In VA it was two years for the mold caused issues. Cleaning is an adventure. I did not remove the cover - as I am not sure how it is attached. (That is for next time.) There are foaming cleaners for this purpose. I used a product designed to kill the mold, but it was...

    Minisplit expectations?

Turns out the blower on the minisplit was heavily covered in mold. After cleaning the blower, Mr Cool is back to its original performance. We have been running it for 3 days and it more than cools the house as it used to.

MrCool 12k 1st day. Cools well; but strange problem?

It took me quite awhile to figure out the Mr Cool manuals - and I had to read manuals from other brands to understand DRY MODE. What is does is run the fan at the lowest speed possible to maximize dehumidifying. It will also cool in that mode, but priority is dehumidifying. P.S. You have a...

    Roof Sprinklers

Greenhouses use to use that system - I think they dyed the water and also recirculated it. I did it when I had a house next to a creek and the water was free and gravity feed. Garden sprinkler on the roof. If you are paying for the water or the pumping, I wonder what the cost dynamics are?

    Minisplit expectations?

Matt and Poor Owner - thanks for the replies. This is getting interesting! I have been running and checking for a number of days. I have been running the fan on the highest setting. Yes, the house has low ceilings and a greenhouse attached that pumps some heat through the wall. The system has...

    Minisplit expectations?

12,000 btu Mr Cool. Less than 500 sq feet, insulated, but not well. Setting the unit at 68 or 70 degrees gives me 75 room temperature. That is fine, just surprised I can not get it lower. It is about 85 outside. Intake at the blower is 76.6 (near the ceiling) and it blows out 48-50. This is...

    Minisplit expectations?

What is a general range for delta T in a minisplit? I have a Mr. Cool and am wondering if it is up to par.

Anybody ever use a "Climate Right" brand system?

I have not used that brand, but been watching them. Can never tell who makes them, or who is stocking them. Similar to a MR COO which I did install. Both come precharged. Climate Right is cheaper and needs no hardwiring. At its price, worth a gamble!

    Review of mrcool minisplit

Less than one year in, the 12,000btu unit lost enough charge to require service (freezing coil on inside unit). This did not trigger a low coolant error code. Service call by local company quoted me a price almost as high as the unit cost to do proper leak check and recharge by weight as...

    Monitor heater

My Monitor 2400 has started acting up after many years. Looking online it seems I am overdue for a "maintenance overhaul." Does anyone have recommendations for the best source of the required parts?
