    What's your favorite tape measure

16' Dewalt. Combined with a pencil it is probably my most used tool. I like how it fits in my hand, not too big and heavy and pretty good stand out. 16' is more than enough for me, if I ever need more I'll just make a couple measurements or count and multiply rafters or something like that.

    Snap-on Claw Hammer

I wouldn't buy a hammer unless I can pick it up and take a couple practice swings first. I'd rather use a junk wrench than a poor hammer. I've never seen a snap on around construction sites so I'm a little skeptical of how good it is. Would love to hear some reviews though.

Compressor fill problems - how long?

No leaks, will build some air but not quickly, sounds like bad valves or compression rings. Only building air on one stroke instead of two. Working against itself.

    Snap on air compressor leak

If it holds pressure for days/week like you say once it levels out then that's all that matters. If there was an actual air leak it would find it's way out no matter what, so I wouldn't worry about it. One of my cheap small compressors has a leak at the outlet and if I leave air inside it'll...

    Impact driver

No different than any usual situation where there's more than one way to get the job done, just a matter of how you go about it. Last week I had a stubborn bolt inside a crankcase, sure I could have clamped it down or heated it or use an air impact, but the manual was right there so I grabbed it...

    Impact driver

Manual impacts come in handy sometimes. I love when I come across situations where I get a chance to use it. Even if you come across a partially b!%ched screw head that a cordless impact will just spin and make it worse, this tool will get it out.

stuck oil pan plug on new Subaru crosstrek

Just about anything mentioned in this thread will work it's just a matter of how you want to go about it and what equipment you have. I know if i didn't have a jack I'd rather try something else before I crawled under the car with a welding hood on.

stuck oil pan plug on new Subaru crosstrek

Maybe a bit of heat and vibration. Pipe wrench and extension bar? Lol. I've never run into this problem on a fine threaded bolt.

Punch and chisel sets - Snap On vs Matco, etc.

Yeah it'll likely equal out to the same in the end. Buy mid range a few times through the course of a lifetime or buy expensive ones. Take your pick.

How many ratchets do you own?

Yeah, no doubt. I've already upgraded a few things since joining this site. It kind of goes against my normal personality, I'm the type of guy to use the same old tool or fishing rod or whatever until it can't be used anymore. However I find myself wanting some nicer ratchets after browsing...

How many ratchets do you own?

I have 5. 1/4" Stanley 3/8" Stanley 3/8" and 1/2" old Van Belknap torque wrench that I use as longer ratchets since I already own other newer TW's. And a 1/2" Mastercraft round head. I definitely can't compete with others but it gets the job done for me. At work we have a lot more...

    Air vs electric

In a small home shop you can get by without air but with multiple workers all running tools at the same time it's nice to all be sharing the same power source with one line to each person instead of having multiple cords plugged in or constantly charging batteries. At work some of our tools...
