Yes, a very bad design. Needs some more head bolts, but the intake port is in the way. I've replaced many of those gaskets at work- probably at least three dozen in my time there. I can get them done in 1 1/2 hours, including a valve job. You'd think Briggs would at least come up with a better...

That is a spring compressor for the wires connected to the condenser on a Briggs & Stratton engine. I have one in my tool box at work. Doesn't get used much any more since the change to electronic ignition.
