Found this at my local thrift for $1.99. My google-fu came up null as did a browse through Alloy Artifacts. Though some of the grey beards here would set me straight.
Kind of looks like a grease gun, but the screw mechanism doesn't really make sense as it has a ball in the center of the stud...
Scored these at my local resale shop the other day; they had priced out huge haul of vintage tools (mostly pipe wrenches). $3 a piece for the 3 smallest ones, $5 for the larger one, so about $15 total
Pretty happy with the purchase - been wanting a stubby set of ratcheting wrenches for a while...
Good to know... My only point of reference was my current 3/8 drive, which was USA made - so the Japan thing threw me a bit (as did the old guy bending my ear off). But I about fell over when they said $20.
Guess it's time to pony up for some Wright Impact sockets :)
Saw this behind the glass at my local thrift shop. Usually that means big $$$ - but couldn't see a price. Took a chance and had the girl dig it out - still no price.
She offers to text the owner. I'm thinking he's gonna hit me $100-ish; comes back with $20. Sold!
Made it worth the 5...
1978 Chevy C30 dually, 4wd, 400 CI - configured as a mini pumper. Only 26k miles (could be 126 as the odometer maxes at 100k, but I am thinking its really only 26k).
Won at $3,250. Toss in auction fees and sales tax and that's about 4k out the door. Auction guys saw me fire it up and came...
Everything is pretty solid - I've got 1 drawer alignment issue I still have to figure out - it catches on the drawer above it so you have to open both at the same time; probably minor.
A bit of sanding a coat of paint and I am good to go.
I just upped my garage storage game big time this past week. Local auction house had some Lista cabs come up for sale. 11 total, half in great shape, half looked like they had been left outside for the last 10 years. But they all checked out at the preview.
I had some reservations about...
Scored nbig on some Wright Impact Sockets. Spent damn near an hour digging through the bulk bins at my local thrift shop. Paid somewhere between $3 and $4 a piece ($3.99 retail less discount + taxes...)
Managed to piece together a 3/8 drive fractional set and most of the metric set (missing...
Re: Wilton and Craftsman Vise Estate Sale Find
Just picked up a new old stock Jet 6-inch "extra heavy duty" - 9.5" jaw opening, claims to be unbreakable under 20 ton load test. Made in France?
Can't find a whole lot of info out there on it; looks and feels well worth the $100 asking price.
From what little info is out there military seems to come up as the primary purpose.
Perhaps this is all I need to talk the wife into letting me get a surplus tank; can't go letting good tools sit around un-used.
Note sure if this is something the forum is interested in; wanted to stick my neck out and share.
Recently found an 60's era Angeles Trike while out thrifting and decided to give it a new life. Angeles, based out of Los Angeles CA) made some bomb proof toys in their day. Solid steel wheels...
Thought I would share a recent unusual find that I turned up at my local thrift shop. Its a not quite complete set of Proto TAC (Tubing Appliance Company) ratcheting crowfoots.
There are 4 ratcheting mechanisms, the wrench head will snap into the ratcheting mechanism similar to a socket...
Almost, I do a lot of hobby odd-ball restoration type stuff. I just finished restoring an old Toledo scale. As luck would have it, the last item I was painting got dropped and shattered. It had a ~2" NPT thread. Fortunately not load bearing, so I was able to epoxy and glass back the missing...
