Just picked up a used compressor with a bad motor

Just wanted to provide an update. I swapped out the OE switch for a Condor 90/135 pressure switch. Ran new 10ga wire from the motor to the switch, and from the switch to the 220V receptacle. Used 10/3 SJOOW chord from the switch to the 220v 30A receptacle. Twist loc. Running a HF filter, with a...

Thanks for the replies. When I get home I will take a look at the info on the motor. That should give me a bit more info.

Just picked up a used compressor with a bad motor

Just picked up a used compressor with a bad motor. Its a 7HP 60G Husky Pro VT631402AJ for $100 Its in great shape but I didn't realize the motors where so damn expensive. 7.5HP compressor motors are close to $800 shipped costing close to the MSRP of this compressor. Anyone have any good...

Recessed / Flush mount fixtures for new garage

That would give me roughly 70-80 FC. Which isn't really overkill, less shadow casting and less hot spotting. General office buildings are 30-40 FC, this would be double that. Most of the higher end service centers I build are around 90-120 FC in the shop.

Recessed / Flush mount fixtures for new garage

Whats your opinion on a solution to achieve 100FC without muddying up the ceiling with so many fixtures. EDIT: Spoke with my lighting supplier and he is really pushing be toward 8' linear fixtures. Running length wise. His opinion is to install 3 rows of 2 8FT linear fixtures. They are linkable...

Recessed / Flush mount fixtures for new garage

Havent pulled the trigger yet but I think I have a direction I will be going in depending on what my lighting supplier can get me. The current idea is far off from where I started but at the end of the day output and function is going to trump aesthetics. To get the lighting levels I am...

Recessed / Flush mount fixtures for new garage

Building out a new 275 SF single car garage. Ceiling height is low but I will be using it to work on my car. My thought was to use (8) 8" recessed slim cannless LED fixures 5000k at 1440LM ea. Total of 11,520 LM which is just over 40LM per SF (low). I really didnt want to go with 4' linear...

BEST Metal cutting reciprocating saw blades???

Okay, I am a construction manager. I am working on a project now and just had the windows come in for the building. We got the first window on the freight elevator at about 10' tall we had to angle them slightly. Not thinking when we got to the top and went to unload the window, it wouldn't pass...

    Melted my screwdriver

Paint on plastic does not mix with carb cleaners of any kind. When you clean plastic parts you want to test on inconspicuous area, or just use stong degreaser. De-greaser like purple power or super clean do the trick. Simple green also works but its not to strong unless diluted 0%. De-greaser...

    Snap on ratcheting screwdriver

IMHO. Yes and no. I am a big snap on fan 75% of my tools are snap on brand. BUT when it comes down to the ratcheting drivers MAC had the better deal. I get to check all my tools out before hand because I have a mac, matco, and snap on dealer that comes to my shop. Snap on kit has a slightly...

    Mig Welding Questions

Please don't give the man false information. I am glad you said that though because now I can properly inform him on shielding gas for use with aluminum. First off Helium isn't required. Lets get that out of the way. Helium is usually used to get a hotter burn. The thermal conductivity is...

Dewalt vs Craftsman Cordless for Homeowner use

Neither I am a die-hard Milwaukee fan, though I have always owned other drills such as makita, craftsman, dewalt, and hilti for the jobsites. By far hilti is the best but as far as price/performance milwakee comes in close second. Dewalt makes a great drill too but the design and the fact they...
