Fasten sanded Birch plywood to walls with the least visible fastener?

If you want a perfect job w/ absolutely no fasteners or mars showing, then the Hafele panel connectors would meet your needs. The system consists of three parts...a triangular mounting plate, a button, and a marker for positioning the button on the panel. You place the plate on the wall, insert...

Useful shop cheat sheets, charts for printouts

I made a fraction to decimal chart that I use almost daily. I can easily estimate that a decimal is approx 1/16 and 1/2 and tweak my wood saw, etc appropriately. Enjoy!

    Cordless tool storage?

I utilized wire shelving elements to create a milwaukee station. This provides a place to keep everything together (18v n 12v) for easy find/access. Batteries go on the separate small shelf and orientation indicates either full or partial charge. The chargers are activated by a inexpensive...

    Baseboard material for garage?

I veered in a slightly different direction for my garage. I used 6x36 porcelain flooring tiles from Lowes...super cheap and indestructible, yet easy to cut w/ any cheap wet saw. I attached to the wall (drywall) with construction adhesive using cartridges. Three years in and no hint of an issue...

    Well storage tank

A simple answer to your question...yes, it can be advantageous in some situations. For example, I just finished our retirement house. The well was 100ft deep and 1/2mile from house w/ approx 250 ft of vertical change. It's a lot easier to size a pump and its duty cycle to complete a 200 gal fill...

Adding walkways to unfinished attic under blown in insulation

Lots of ways to skin the cat depending on your end goal and attic structures. On previous home, attic had 40 inches blown in insulation. I created walkways & storage zone w/ wood composite I beams ( e.g tru joists) & advantech walk surface, filled w/ combo of foam board/batts to equal blown in R...

Being prepared for the worst-case scenario...Someone breaking into your garage and robbing you blind

In addition to the general consensus, I use cameras, locks, n alarms. However, to minimize their having a successful burglary, I use Pepper Spray Bombs (www.burglarbomb.com)...simple, safe last line line of deterrent.

    Deep well pump replacement

Just to re-iterate, install practices impacts contamination. My installs regardless of pipe never touch the ground to minimize contamination...extra hassle but worth the effort.

    Deep well pump replacement

Just to follow up re: concerns of chlorine degradation. If shocking for bacteria is req'd for initial install, chlorine shock the well and after the appropriate exposure time, drop the pump and operate. If one were to create long term exposure of the hose then the inner & outer liner of...

    Deep well pump replacement

For my well (100ft deep, 85 ft deep pump, 1/2 mile run n addtl 300ft rise), I switched to a product called WellHose which has better pressure capacity than poly, tends to minimize internal buildups, very non-reactive with typical well water and easy to lower w/ pump and pull out. I used a simple...

    fallen down fence repair

The fence survived the hurricane, posts are good and the fix is easy...pull back up n repack the hole with dirt...very little chance of accelerating rot and easy to repair in the next hurricane. Broken fences w/ concrete posts are not as easy to fix. However, securing new fence post is always...

Wooden base for a vinyl shed

Use a vapor barrier (plastic sheet) over the 2x8s, then some adventech. The final " belt n suspenders" would be to add a small round aluminum vent at the narrow end of each cavity defined by the 2x8s. Good luck!

Anyone come up with Levrack Alternatives?

Occasionally, used GEMTRAC cabinets pop up & may be snagged on the cheap. Similar to Levrack except they are paired to share the "when opened space"...very volume efficient. However, ridiculously expensive(if new), heavy and lots of fun to move. For me, they have been fantastic for managing...

    Laser Levels - OCD

I primarily use a Johnson Multifunction mount (40-6304). The mount allows easy vertical adjustment over several inches as well as plumb adj in one plane. This is primarily attached to a tripod, but occasionally I have clamped this to structure, soffits, poles, etc. Definitely has been handy.
