    DIY ATV Build

Anybody know of any plans that exist for building an ATV of sorts? My 84 year old dad is still going strong, but has reached the point where just the energy to get to the fence he needs to fix, to the shop to work on a project, etc is tiring for him (he lives at 9000' up in the mountains in the...

Devilbiss Finishline 3 - Baffle Tube?

I have a Devilbiss Finishline 3 gun. Today I managed to lose the little tube/pin that helps keep the baffle in place. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a loose fit vs in there tightly. Anyway, I thought it would be easy to find a replacement part, but all I can find is the full baffle with...

    Compressor Flywheel Bent

I pulled it off and did some "gentle massage" on it. I got the variance cut to a strong 1/16" and stopped before making anything worse on accident. The vibration is still there, but much better now. I don't think it'll cause any problems at this level.

    Compressor Flywheel Bent

Yep, the crankshaft appears to be completely fine.

    Compressor Flywheel Bent

Long story short - 80 gallon compressor pump plus a momentary distraction, gravity, and a concrete floor equals a flywheel that is now no longer running true. It still runs round (still a circle and didn't get turned into an oval), but in the other plane it's out about 1/8". No visible bends...

    Speedaire Regulator Leak

Sorry, by the "wiggle" in the bowl, I meant it's leaking where the bowl fits into the regulator body. Everything else about the regulator seems fine.

    Speedaire Regulator Leak

I was given a Speedaire air regulator (4ZK90 - metal bowl with filter). When I first hooked it up, it leaked like crazy. I pulled the bowl off, cleaned things up, and replaced the o-ring. It still leaks. What am I missing with this thing? When I turn the bowl to lock it in place, it has a...

Anchoring air compressor to concrete floor

My garage has a drainage slope to the concrete - about 1/2 inch per 2 feet. Should I go through the effort to level the compressor out, or just let it sit at a slight angle? It's not going anywhere either way (80 gallon).

What's the secret? Compressor Belt Tension

Yeah, I wasn't trying to get it perfect, but so far at about 1/2" of deflection the belt vibrates pretty bad, even though it's in alignment and the pump runs fine.

What's the secret? Compressor Belt Tension

I need to tighten up the belt on my 80 gallon air compressor. Spec is for 3/16" deflection under 5 lbs of force. If I stand on one leg, hold my tongue just right and use some blocks between the motor and pump, I can get partially there, but anytime I get to the 3/16" range, all of the effort...

    Big compressor without 240v?

I'll check it out and see!

    Big compressor without 240v?

I think somehow my wanting a bigger compressor got twisted into the assumption by some folks that I'm not at all happy living where I live, or that I'm somehow "stuck" with no options and don't know what owning a home is like. A guy can be perfectly happy and still WANT to see if it's possible...

    Big compressor without 240v?

Thanks! I can survive with a lower CFM if I have to. This looks like a good compromise though.

    Big compressor without 240v?

You're right. I'll find an oiled 120 and just make it work. I did have plans for a project that I was going to build a very temporary (pvc and plastic) paint booth for, but I could push that off. Or, I may just paint in very small batches and see how it goes.

    Big compressor without 240v?

I'd be more than happy to move if you want to pitch in! Just FYI, my friends down the street from me bought an absolute tear down 3 years ago for $800k just to get a lot to build on, and prices have sky rocketed since then. So until I move from the area, renting it is. Spending over...
