Didn't you say he was brand new? Maybe he is still learning the ropes. When you type in the part number in the computer on these BOGO deals, the computer tells you full list price, not the bogo price. I'm willing to bet thats where the discrepancy was. Give him a break.
In the defense of the guy on the truck, he would have had to return the wheels to Snap On to get credit back for them. He would not be reimbursed if he gave them to you with no replacement.
And its stuff like this that will eventually screw up the warranty process for all of the honest people out there. If Snap On is gracious enough to send out slides for his entire box, sight unseen, say thank you and move on. :rolleyes2
Guys like you are best just working on a salary and not having to make any real financial decisions. Do your self a favor and never go into business for yourself.

They are still available, they are in the RWD catalog offered by Snap On. I don't have one in front of me right now for pricing or part numbers. They are not very popular because they tend to get yellowish after time. The stainless guards are a far nicer option.
