I've been using a product called SteadyRack. They're great and allow you to move the bike(s) from side to side.

How far can you run the vent? If I decide to place the heater on the wall that I would like, i would have to run vent to the other side of the garage to exit the side of the house.

Just a quick followup... I applied 2 layers of paint/primer. Then roughly 5-7 coats of Polyacrylic and sanded in between the first 3 layers. The top is nice...although if I had to do any pounding or anything hard on the bench...I would recommend another solution (stainless steel!!) I do use...
