Thanks Hiball, good Advise. my Ucup did go to pieces, many small pieces. grain really. I removed the freeze plug (thats the one in the side mounting bolt hole correct) and cleaned that out. THen I hooked up a tube to the fluid pick up and pumped clean fluid through the valve till it was clear...

Couple videos I found useful are these: This one shows you how to quickly get the pump out the simple way: (BTY these guys are in NY I believe if you just want to exchange out your pump) THen this one is a guy tearing his apart. It's not great because it is his first time doing it as well...
