    Paint garage door weather seal?

I have a garage door seal that looks like the one below. I would like to paint the seal when I have the house painted so the color matches the trim and door. However, I'm concerned the paint on the flexible flap won't last as long as the house paint, and perhaps cause cracking and peeling...

Air compressor port size: 3/8 or 1/2?

I have a CH 60 gallon 135 PSI air compressor, and wondering what size port I should get for the filter/regulator. I noticed CH has the sizes 3/8" and 1/2". Both have the same specs. Is 3/8" too small? Is 1/2" overkill? Thanks, Jake

Puma PK6060V Air Compressor Info Needed (Harbor Freight vs. Others)

The issue of parts availability and service is very good advice. However, I wonder if getting parts is that difficult via Internet? Was the difficulty locally, or Internet, or both? My choice logic has been narrowed down by: Ingersoll-Rand Campbell Hausfeld Puma Chicago Pneumatic Powermate...

Puma PK6060V Air Compressor Info Needed (Harbor Freight vs. Others)

I'm considering the purchase of the Puma PK6060V air compressor. HF may have the same exact unit that other higher priced retailers have. However, the pump looks different in the photo that I've seen on other sites. HF has the better price, and I may not have to pay for the shipping (or...

Battle of the low cost ($400) 60-gallon 240v compressors -- help me decide

Another compressor to consider is the Puma PK6060V CFM @ 40 PSI: 13.5 CFM @ 90 PSI: 12 Max Pressure : 150 PSI Price : ~$420 Not sure of the inline vs. twin differences. Not sure if the motor/pump/pressure switch is more heavy duty. Not sure of the duty cycle. You can buy...

Does anyone know the duty cycle between the options? Also, the Kobalt is a re-baged Coleman Powermate PLA3706056. And it should also be mentioned that it seems like the Kobalt/Coleman are using cast iron in all the right places, and using aluminum where it counts. It seems like it is a cast...

Battle of the low cost ($400) 60-gallon 240v compressors -- help me decide

Here's my comparison of cast iron vs. aluminum: Cast iron = more mass = more quiet Cast iron = more mass = absorb more heat Cast iron = dissipates heat slower. Retains heat longer. Aluminum = loses heat faster Compare it to cooking pans: aluminum vs. cast iron The other variable in the...

Battle of the low cost ($400) 60-gallon 240v compressors -- help me decide

Is the US General more noisy than other single stage compressors within the $400 range (Kobalt / Campbell Hausfeld)? The marketing material from CH says that cast iron pump and sleeves, not aluminum, is supposed to be more 35% quieter and 60º cooler. So I figure the CH and US General would be...

Battle of the low cost ($400) 60-gallon 240v compressors -- help me decide

I like the explanation. But won't the compressor be running the same amount of time trying to maintain 155 PSI? I've been paying attention to SCFM because it takes account for the PSI and tank size. Another consideration would be the RPM of the pump. Slower is better (less noise, less heat...

Battle of the low cost ($400) 60-gallon 240v compressors -- help me decide

Doing some more internet searches, I haven't found anyone say a single bad thing about US General. And I believe their motors are made by ABAC, which is a reputable company for consumer quality air compressors.

Battle of the low cost ($400) 60-gallon 240v compressors -- help me decide

I looked at the US General. It seemed like a sturdy built compressor. The pump appeared 100% cast iron (more quiet and better cooled). And the specs are top performing. Not sure about reliability. Not sure if the specs can be trusted. Maybe specs are just marketing? After doing some...
