Packer/Shim/Wedge for behind lights mounted to Hardieboard weather board?

Replacing the exterior lights on the garage, and I'm looking for a packer/shim/wedge product to go behind the light so that it sits on a vertical surface. This is most important for some lights where the holes/wires are such that the light can't sit just on one board, so would have a huge 1/4" ...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

Anyone got insight into what the new normal is for HF and HF-inside track coupons? I used to time all HF purchases for when there was a coupon, then coupons stopped for a while. My inside track expired and I'm now wanting a few Icon tools. Trying to workout if waiting a couple months will pay...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks, I figured 1935 seemed too old, and also thought it looked smaller than 4", but the seller said that it had 4 stamped on it somewhere that I've not found. I'll set up the bath one day this week, it'll be my first time doing it. I did a 1960's or so Craftsman with wire wheels on an angle...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Repaired Wilton 4”. Paid $40. Planning to restore for a learning project, and pass onto one of my kids. 1) do I put everything, once disassembled, into the electrolysis bath, or do I need to mask the chrome(?) inner part? 2) is this from 1935, or is that the model? Thanks

Choosing a gas powered log splitter, and I think I've found the one I want. Open to comments

The local used market had slim pickings, but I did stumble across a used TroyBuilt 27T with the Honda GCV160 OHC engine. Paid about 1/3 of what they're worth new. I think I paid more than it would have cost in 2019, but given everything has gone up in price so much, I think I got a good deal...

Choosing a gas powered log splitter, and I think I've found the one I want. Open to comments

Thanks for the info and videos (I'll watch them tonight). I was scared off B&S by too many forum posts (I accept that the forums are not a statistically significant number of reviews though) that ended up with issues and claims that "they're not like B&S used to be" etc. Just sounded like B&S...

Choosing a gas powered log splitter, and I think I've found the one I want. Open to comments

I didn't think I needed a log splitter, but I'm finding that I just cannot split the oak we have. I'd like to split around 3-4 cords a year. I can rent a splitter for $100/day, but then I need to free up a day and my body gives in after a few hours. The internet/forums have convinced me that...

multi socket outlets - more than duplex, but maybe 6 or 8? I cannot find them, are they against code?

Two of the 3 gang plastic retro fit boxes, one on each end of the work bench, with a mixture of GFCI sockets, USB ports and switched outlets. That would save me from buying the expensive 6 gang cover. I'm still surprised that there aren't more euro style options, but will cobble together this...

multi socket outlets - more than duplex, but maybe 6 or 8? I cannot find them, are they against code?

Thanks, I didn't realize that's what those single boxes are for. So for a 6 wide face plate, I'd get 6 of these individual gangs? That's the "correct" way to do it, not two 3 wide ones? I am retro fitting this to a wall that is already finished. I didn't want the corded outlet rail type, as I...

multi socket outlets - more than duplex, but maybe 6 or 8? I cannot find them, are they against code?

It will look close, just that the NZ/AUS one is all one piece without the joins. I think I'll be going the individual sockets and one big cover route, because nothing else is available in the US. Thanks

multi socket outlets - more than duplex, but maybe 6 or 8? I cannot find them, are they against code?

    1) I'm in the US, so subject to US code and products that have UL certification 2) I want to add some outlet sockets to the wall behind my workbench. I have 2 laptops, a monitor, USB charging for cellphone and other things, plus I need another couple outlets from time to time. I cannot find...

Is this site a scam? "www.topsalefad.store"? Seems too cheap for snap-on

No, easier to build a fake website, but the other ones I've seen only bothered listing a dozen items, and stuck to more mainstream products. This one has lots of listings, and they're all these used items, not just copy/paste of stock new photos from a manufacturer. I'll try a google image...

Is this site a scam? "www.topsalefad.store"? Seems too cheap for snap-on

Yeah, the website is odd, and the physical address is a house. Just seems like they went to a lot of effort for this. I tried to see if there were reports of it being a scam, but found nothing. I’ve not ordered.
