Help - Garage too hot to Work In

In the summer my garage operates the same way as ducksface. As long as I keep the garage doors shut most of the daytime it stays 65-68 due to the slab staying cool. My garage is insulated well (spray foam walls with batt and blown in insulation in the attic and 2" insulated doors). --Joe

    Paint recommendation for steel tools

I have a few items in my shop (vise, stands etc) that I cleaned/stripped and want to paint them before they start to rust. Any special prep work or material you guys use for painting? Or can I just use a primer and Rustoleum for steel? Thanks in advance. --Joe

    Fabrication & techniques

Side note....why are you guys using wood blocks and struggling to remove blades? Just get a cheap impact wrench, bolts come right off and you can hold the blade with your free hand as it barely wants to turn. --Joe

What model Scag? I had a Freedom Z at my old house and now have a Tiger Cat II, both have been very easy to jack up and put stands under before cleaning deck or changing blades. --Joe

    Fabrication & techniques

I always set the emergency brake and put a set of jack stands under the deck and let it sit on those. Been doing it like that for years. --Joe

Garage is framed, bigger than I thought

Funny, you had the opposite response when your walls got framed. After stepping back and looking at my rough framing I said "That looks smaller than I thought it was going to be". --Joe

Switching from black pipe to Galvanized in air line layout

You are not stuck to precut lengths of black pipe or galvanized if you have a pipe threader  --Joe

Switching from black pipe to Galvanized in air line layout

I did my whole shop with galvanized pipe, has worked great for years with zero issues and zero rust. --Joe

An active couple; a new house and a hasty decision to move…

Awesome! I'm in Springfield Township (Clarkston mailing address). I thought it looked familiar. --Joe

House and garage projects are coming along nicely. Are you in Clarkston by chance.......the background in those pictures looks familiar. --Joe

    (It's) Riding lawn mower time

I cut my 3.5 acres in under 2 hours with a 61" Scag zero turn. I am not trying to set any land speed records either. Scag "suggests" you can cut an acre in 20 minutes, of course that is no obstacles and at full tilt, I usually cut between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle to save my kidneys  --Joe

    (It's) Riding lawn mower time

54 is a big deck for only an acre, depending on how many trees/obstacles you have, that is only 30 minutes of cutting. --Joe

    I've had better weekends

It's the same way they terminated in the garage. In garage it goes from poly to a "sharkbite" style fitting to another short section of poly with a crimp fitting on it (same crimp that is at meter). The crimp fitting is 1" NPT and they just put a cap on it. You can see what I'm talking about...
