Wouldn't know it from the two stores I frequent. They've just been clearing them out. Only replacing the multi-packs and even then only keeping two of each set on hand.
Was not (obviously) aware of a complete changeover just in most of the tools. What's sad, to me, is that I went there specifically for their US line. As has been made clear, I no longer need to do that.
That photo is an interesting reminder of not only how Sears was, but more insidiously, how much the "Buy American" (or any country for that matter) is just advertising rhetoric used by many (not all) companies.
Ah, Now I recall why I haven't visited in a while. Sorry to have have added to the pile of useless posts. I can't wait to read what mind bogglers you've been posting about Jim.
I don't know if that will continue in another form. They have already discontinued the Craftsman Professional (USA) tools. The stock in the pro section at my local store is quickly dwindling. What's left has been on sale for some time. I bought a couple drivers.
All of the basic tools I've picked up in the last year were still US made so it's news to me.
The ratchets they had on the wall must be old stock because they were also US made. I had no reason to suspect I would receive these replacements.
Oh, the shame....Just received my replacement Craftsman ratchets (they would not replace them at the store). Even their basic line is now made in China. I wrongly assumed their basic tools would stay US made. Wrong.
I've been out of the loop so this may be old news but this is the first time...
I was on the fence about writing them because it was probably an oversight and I got a good deal but hats sure come in handy here in TX so I just shot them a polite note. We'll see. Thanks.
Update: Hat is in its way to me. No fuss.
