We have a Lowes in town, but the tool quality is rather unappealing.

Around here, they have started putting a lien on the property for unpaid electric bills. It's pretty unfair for anyone that is a landlord, as they have no control over the tenant

The MAPP torches will work just fine on propane. I have one and use the camp stove propane bottles. They are shorter, more stable, and cheaper than the long skinny ones. I mostly use it for lighting the wood stove, but it works fine for soldering pipes or heating parts.
I pretty much have to buy for myself. Somehow I'm hard to buy for as I don't like the typical Christmas junk that people like to buy. This year, I did get a nice pair of LL Bean gloves, and some gift cards.
